When did EPCOT quick service get this good?

That was my immediate thought after trying one of the eats at a popular quick-service restaurant. While I’ve had my fair share of great Disney meals that put me at risk of raving about all day long, this one exceeded my expectations immediately! It’s bold, balanced, and unexpectedly refined, proving that quick service doesn’t have to mean cutting corners.
Every once in a while, a quick-service meal at Disney World completely redefines expectations, and the General Tso’s Tofu Salad from Connections Eatery in EPCOT does exactly that. This is not just “good for quick service.” This is an unbelievable offering!!

From the very first bite, everything about this salad feels elevated. The ingredients are thoughtfully chosen, the quality is immediately noticeable, and the flavors feel sophisticated without being intimidating. It’s the kind of dish that works for a wide range of eaters, whether you’re plant-based, tofu-curious, or just looking for something fresh and filling. Honestly? This is a 10 out of 10.

The salad comes already dressed, and thankfully, it’s done right. It’s evenly distributed, so every bite is balanced instead of soggy or overwhelming. And we’ve got to talk about the tofu, because it’s exceptional! The cubes are crispy on the outside but bouncy on the inside, almost like paneer, which is such a satisfying texture. Even more impressive is that they’re perfectly soaked in that General Tso’s-style dressing while somehow staying crisp, which honestly, makes it feel a little magical.

Flavor-wise, there’s a gentle sweetness from the dressing that’s complemented beautifully by bright pops from the mandarin orange slices. The crispy wontons hold up shockingly well, even with the salad fully dressed, which is no small feat.
My only critiques are minor and very much in the “I was paying too much attention” category. I didn’t really notice the broccoli slaw, though I did see thin carrot strips, so I’m sure it was there. The edamame took some digging to find, and the bell peppers are cut so small that I initially thought they’d been left out altogether. I also had one bite of crispy wonton on its own that was very salty, which was a little surprising.

That said, once everything is mixed, the balance is perfect. The saltiness completely evens out, and the flavors shine as intended. My best advice? Don’t be a salad sleuth — just mix it, eat it, and enjoy it.
I even chatted with another person nearby who ordered the chicken version, and she felt the same way (minus the salty wonton moment), which makes me think that may have been a one-off. If you’re particularly sensitive to salt, you could always ask for the wontons on the side or left off.

An elevated, table-service–level dish with strong presentation, available via mobile order at a quick-service restaurant, for $12.49? This is one of the best values in EPCOT right now, and a dish I’d order again without hesitation.

Is the tofu fried in the same oil as the chicken is? The would make it plant-based, but not vegetarian.
