REMINDER: Changes Start THIS Month in Magic Kingdom

If there’s one thing consistent about Disney Parks, it’s that they will always be changing. From attractions closing or opening to changes to your favorite shows and even just time changes or seasonal shows, there’s always so much happening (which is kinda why we have an entire team dedicated to reporting on Disney!).

Cinderella Castle

A few changes are hitting Magic Kingdom soon, and we’re spilling all the details so you know before your next trip.

In case you missed it, our beloved Cinderella Castle is getting a new coat of paint! The castle was painted pink for Disney World’s 50th anniversary, but now it’s going back to the original gray, and because of that, some of the shows around the castle are getting a few changes.

Starting January 28th, there will be a modified Let the Magic Begin show, which is the opening show in the morning in front of the castle. Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire and Happily Ever After will continue to happen, but with minor adjustments.

When the painting actually starts, the cranes used to repaint will be lowered and out of sight around noon each day. The project is expected to be completed later in the year, but we’re pretty thrilled to still get our castle pictures without construction in the way!

This isn’t the only construction happening in Magic Kingdom right now. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been closed for about a year and will be reopening in the spring with some new magic.

Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin will also be reopening in the spring with a new scene, targets, ride vehicles, and blasters. I think it’s going to feel like a totally different ride!

Of course, Piston Peak, the Cars-themed land taking over the old Tom Sawyer Island, is also in the works. We don’t have any opening timeline on this, but we’re pretty excited to see all the work being done.

Villains Land, which is located behind Big Thunder Mountain, is also being worked on. Not too many details have been released yet, but I’m ready to see my favorite villains come to life in my favorite park.

We’ll be sharing all the details for the castle repainting as they’re released, but in the meantime, make sure you keep following AllEars for the most updated information.
