Have you ever found a snack, a drink, a lunch, a dessert, or something somewhere that you just really loved, and it was one of the few places you could find it? Then one day, it’s just POOF, gone. That’s what happened to me.

My favorite beer could be found at one very specific place in EPCOT, and only one other place in all of Disney World. It made me so happy that I knew I could reliably grab this beer while hanging out at the park. But then, one day, it completely disappeared! Do you know how sad it is to have a favorite thing like a beer or a snack that is usually so reliable, be discontinued at one of your favorite hangouts? It was a huge blow to my EPCOT trips. Luckily, I finally found it again, in a very unexpected location, NOT in EPCOT.
My favorite beer is Smithwick’s Red Ale. Smithwick’s is an Irish brewery that originated in Kilkenny, so it made sense that I could reliably grab a pint at Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Room in the UK pavilion in EPCOT. I could grab a glass of this tasty red ale and enjoy my evening watching the live music at the UK pavilion gazebo.

Then, one day, I went to grab a pint of Smithwick’s from Rose & Crown, only to find out that they had taken it off the draught list! I was shocked and pretty disappointed, honestly. It had been great knowing I could get a glass of literally my favorite beer of all time, and then suddenly Disney decided to no longer offer it in the UK pavilion of all places.

Well, one day, while I was filming the “Everything in Harry Potter World in One Day Challenge” (see the video below!) at Universal Orlando, I stopped by the Hog’s Head in Hogsmeade (because I literally had to for the challenge). And what would you know, there at the pub was my beloved Smithwick’s Red Ale on draught!

I was so excited and, honestly, shocked! When I go to a Harry Potter-themed bar, I expect to see wizard drink options, things like Butterbeer and Pumpkin Juice. So to see the Muggle beer Smithwick’s available at the Hog’s Head, I immediately had to tell everyone at AllEars about it (obviously). Since this is my favorite beer that had gone missing from EPCOT’s UK pavilion, I was so happy to find another place where I can get it.

Now, I realize that the world of Harry Potter, and Hogsmeade specifically, is in the UK, so an Irish beer here isn’t the wildest idea. But ya know, a Muggle beer in a wizarding pub was still a bit of a shock, albeit a pleasant one. However, you may find other Muggle beers here, such as Guinness!

If you’re interested in trying a Smithwick’s Red Ale, you may find it at the Hog’s Head in Hogsmead at Islands of Adventure (Universal Orlando) and at Raglan Road in Disney Springs (Disney World). I totally recommend trying it, but I’m likely biased.
In the meantime, be sure to keep following AllEars for more beer, Universal Orlando, and Disney news!
