We love Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. You love Polynesian Village Resort. We don’t ever want to dissuade people from staying here, but there are some rules we wish folks would be more mindful of when deciding to make this their home “camp” during a Disney World vacation.

Generally speaking, the Polynesian doesn’t have too many different rules from other Deluxe Resorts — spoken or unspoken. There’s no denying that the Polynesian has a uniqueness based on theming, luxury, and available amenities. Having been around since Disney World’s beginning in 1971, this resort exudes a high-end Disney vacation vibe for us and other Disney fans. As such, the resort comes with a set of guidelines on WHAT NOT TO DO.
Parking Without A Reservation
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has a parking policy that allows non-resort guests to park in the hotel’s main parking lot if they are dining at restaurants that do NOT require a reservation after 2 PM. Otherwise, it’s generally not allowed to park at the hotel without a reservation.

During busier times in Disney World, hotels like the Polynesian might prohibit parking for non-guests/guests without dining reservations, as well as using Mobile Order at quick-service restaurants.

The Polynesian will crack down on this rule when the resort gets extra busy, so you might want to avoid this problem and take Disney’s free transportation or use a rideshare.
Not Being Respectful Of Others During The Fireworks
The Polynesian Beach — along with other free-access spots at the resort — offers great views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

The beach, especially, is a popular gathering spot for fireworks fans, but it does come with a caveat. Some folks will stand right in front of seated guests, or hold up bright phones during the entire show. It kinda ruins the experience. In the spirit of island vibes, we recommend kicking back, taking in the views, and living in the moment.

Of note, the beach may be restricted to resort guests on big holidays, such as the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve, but this unspoken rule should always remain.
Treating The Resort Like A Theme Park
If you’re simply visiting the Polynesian for a few hours, it’s easy to take in the fantastic theming and unique vibes, all while forgetting you’re still at a hotel.

Of course, you’re always welcome to enjoy the restaurants and bars, but remember this is a place of lodging and not a theme park attraction. Sneaking into the pool, disturbing guests, and causing any sort of chaos is pretty unfair to the families just looking for a relaxing vacation. Disney World is PACKED with play areas for kids and adults alike, so you have plenty of spots to go if you’re looking for a rowdy-good time!
Blocking The Monorail Path
The Polynesian is along the Disney World Monorail route, and it can get pretty busy at the resort’s station.

Serving as a main transportation hub, the station is best served when foot traffic is flowing. If you must grab pictures, please do so quickly so that you and other travelers can get from A to B as quickly as possible!
Crowding Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto
Okay, so this last rule is totally unreasonable, but we’re praying for the hype to die down a bit on Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto.

This popular bar switches to 21+ only after 8 PM, but it’s small and in high demand, so getting walk-in reservations is difficult. Look, we get it. The bar is fun, interactive, and staffed by hilarious bartenders who only enhance the experience. You can order fun drinks that bring the bar to life or simply take in this atmosphere inspired by the Jungle Cruise. We just wish it were easier to visit whenever we wanted!
