REVIEW: This Disney Springs Restaurant Has a NEW Special, but We Did Not Expect THIS

We’ve dined at ALL the restaurants in Disney World, so we can help you decide which ones are best for you on your upcoming trip. That means we’ve seen the BEST of Disney food…and unfortunately, the not so great.

Spread from The Polite Pig

Over in Disney Springs, you’ll find some of our favorite dining spots, as this is THE spot to go in Disney World if you want a lot of great options of many different styles of cuisine in one place. The Polite Pig is pretty high on our list for barbecue; however, we’ve got to admit to you that this most recent chef special is? Well, let’s just say it continues a weird trend at this location.

Each month, there’s a chef special at The Polite Pig, and this month it’s the Seared Pork Loin Chop for $23, served with roasted potatoes, mushrooms & peas and a bourbon-honey barbecue sauce.

Seared Pork Loin Chop

While the presentation here was nice, we feel this isn’t special enough to justify the $23 price tag. It honestly felt like something we could make just as easily at home, which isn’t our goal when dining out at Disney Springs.

It looks nice, but it’s nothing special

While the pork here is good, it’s unfortunately very fatty. We appreciated how it wasn’t dry, but it was very difficult to cut through and chew. The bourbon-honey barbecue sauce is more of a mild glaze on top, so we would have really preferred to see more of it since we think it would have provided a more unique flavor. The potatoes were cooked very unevenly — some were perfectly soft and tender, while others were undercooked and hard to bite through. The mushrooms, since they’re all different sizes, were also cooked inconsistently.

Very fatty meat

The other vegetables were fine — nothing to write home about — and were seasoned well, but as our reporter is someone who often cooks pork chops and roasts vegetables at home, it’s not something she’d order again and really feels could have been better prepared. If you’re craving pork and want the idea of a home-cooked meal, this might hit the spot, but we still think we’ve seen better at this restaurant.

We wouldn’t recommend

Now, do we recommend stopping by The Polite Pig for other menu items? Absolutely! The menu here has some really fantastic options, with some of our favorites being the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, the Mac and Cheese, the Blueberry Bread Pudding, and the Southern Pig Sandwich.

Yum!
