So much is happening at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

A lot of change has been happening (and will be happening) at the park over the next few months. DinoLand U.S.A. has been in the process of closing to get ready for its transformation into Puebla Esperanza, which means we’ve been saying goodbye to some of our favorite spots.
Disney has slowly but surely been closing parts of DinoLand one piece at a time. The most recent victim of the transformation was the Boneyard playground, which closed on September 2nd.

This closure came amid the breaking news announcement of the official closing date of Dinosaur and the rest of DinoLand. Dinosaur will be closing on February 2nd, along with The Dino Institute Shop, Dino-Bites, Restaurantosaurus, and Restaurantosaurus Lounge. The last day to experience it all will be February 1st, 2026.

We recently visited the park and noticed that Dino-Bites has already implemented some changes. The Dino Eggs-cavation treat has been officially removed from the menu.

This was expected, as the Dino Eggs-cavation was an exclusive snack item for the Cool Kid Summer event — which is coming to an end. This was an ice cream treat with a fun surprise inside the egg!

We’re gonna miss this snack; it’s not often we get to play with our food these days.

What you might not know about, though, are some other menu items not listed on the My Disney Experience app, including the Annual Passholder exclusive, Totally Sweet Sundae, and the Strawberry Shortcake Cookie.

Just to be clear, those items aren’t gone…yet. However, we noticed they were removed from the My Disney Experience app menu.

After noticing these items had been removed from the online Disney menus, we went to the snack kiosk at Animal Kingdom so that we could confirm if they are still available. Good news: Disney has menu signs up for these two items.

We asked a Cast Member if the two items would be leaving anytime soon, and they said something new is coming in October. There’s a chance one of the two items will be replaced, but they don’t know which one (or if it will just be a new addition). It did sound like the Passholder sundae will be around for a bit longer, but the Cast Member also didn’t know how long.

The park is continually evolving, and at this point, it feels like anything can happen as Disney fully commits to the Tropical Americas transformation. Walls are going up, things are closing, and dirt is being moved!

It’s hard to say goodbye to such a fun snack, but we’re excited for what’s ahead in Animal Kingdom — it’s a bittersweet feeling. To stay up to date on the latest news and updates, make sure to stay tuned to AlLEars.
