BREAKING: Disney Reveals New CHANGES Coming to TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom

We have breaking news regarding one of the most popular rides in Magic Kingdom: TRON Lightcycle / Run!

We are at Destination D23 this weekend, and Disney made a MASSIVE announcement regarding the popular Magic Kingdom light-bike rollercoaster. We’re giving you all the details right here!

The Walt Disney Studios will be releasing the next film in the TRON series, Tron: Ares, on October 10th, 2025. To match the theme of the brand-new upcoming film, the Tron Lightcycle / Run coaster will be getting a NEW overlay!

The next time you step into the digital grid, you’ll be launched into a Tron: Ares version of the high-speed, adrenaline-pumping ride! The news was just announced today by Yvette Nicole Brown at the Walt Disney Studios showcase at Destination D23. TRON Lightcycle / Run at Disney World and TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disney Resort will celebrate the release of the film with this exciting new overlay.

What will this overlay look like? The blue and orange hues of the ride will now become RED! That’s right — we’re switching sides. Can you imagine what the ride will look like at night, covered in a red color, rather than its usual blue?!

Just wait, that’s not all! The band, Nine Inch Nails (NIN), will be adding its unique music into the TRON universe as its music will be featured in the new movie. Well, that music will also be featured on the ride as a part of the new overlay!

This overlay will hit Walt Disney World on September 15th and Shanghai Disney on September 16th. Make sure to mark your calendars, because this trip into the grid will be unlike anything we’ve ever experienced!

Tron: Ares will release in theatres on October 10th, 2025, and will be the third movie in the TRON sci-fi franchise. Jeff Bridges is returning to star in the new movie, and alongside him will be Jared Leto as Ares, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Cameron Monaghan. The film is directed by Joachim Rønning, who has done other Disney live-action hits like Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
