“I think I’m in love.” This Disney World Restaurant Just Made Our Day With Its NEW Eats

If there’s one thing about us, if limited-time food offerings are being served, we’re booking a park reservation and heading straight to Disney World. With the Halloween season starting in the parks, there are so many new snacks and dishes to try.

Ghostly Delight Sundae

We headed to The Plaza Restaurant on Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom to try their special Halloween foods. All of these dishes are brand new this year and will be available till October 31st. Let’s eat!

Disney Vacation Planner

At the Plaza Restaurant, these limited-time treats are available during normal park hours, so while the restaurant is available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, all you need is a park ticket to Magic Kingdom to try it out.

Reservations are recommended, especially during the busy Halloween season! You can book on the Disney World website or app. Enough about the details, let’s dig in.

The Plaza Restaurant is sporting its fall and Halloween look with a pretty fall garland, banners, and pumpkins.

Halloween decor!

For our drink, we tried the Goblins and Ghoulies drink for $16.50. It’s made of Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Disaronno Originale Liqueur, apple cider, and pomegranate juice. This is so good, the blackberry is the forefront flavor, and you don’t get a lot of the alcohol taste. It’s almost like a punch. The spiced part of the rum is subtle and just right. We’ll be ordering this one again.

Then we had the Pumpkin-spiced Coffee Barbecue Pork Sandwich for $19. It’s a coffee-rubbed pork featuring Joffrey’s Pumpkin Crème Brûlée Coffee Seasonal Blend, cold brew barbecue sauce, and a slaw with pumpkin-spiced aioli on a purple sweet potato bun. The shredded pork is nice and tender, and the pumpkin flavor is soft, so it doesn’t hit you over the head.  We thought the purple bun was beautifully fluffy.

The slaw is not super heavy, but lighter and vinegar-based. We also liked the crispy onions on top. The sandwich offers more of a sweetness, but it’s well-balanced. The fries are beautifully crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Beautifully tender pork

We also had the Skull Meatloaf for $27, which is what made us book the reservation! This is a Caribbean-style glazed meatloaf served with loaded mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. So this was a case where the promised skull shape didn’t translate very well in meatloaf form. Let’s start with the mashed potatoes because they tasted like pumpkin spice, which is odd for potatoes, but it grew on us. The bacon in the potatoes adds a nice salty bite, though.

Skull (?) Meatloaf

If you eat the potatoes with the meatloaf, it works. The meatloaf is moist, although it’s pretty small. It’s served traditionally with ketchup and tomato glaze on top. We really didn’t get that it was Caribbean-style.

It’s pretty much regular meatloaf

To finish off our meal, we had the Ghostly Delight Sundae for $9. This sundae is chocolate ice cream topped with chocolate cookie crumbs, marshmallow cream, almonds, sugar cookies, and sprinkles. Our reporter said, “I think I’m in love.” The chocolate ice cream is super creamy and tastes like Rocky Road. The ghost cookies are crumbly with that lovely hard icing we love on store-bought cookies.

It’s so spoopy!

The marshmallow cream on the sides of the sundae is so fun, sweet, and easy to eat. This is something else we would come back to this restaurant for. In fact, we want this year-round, just change out the ghosts seasonally to Christmas trees, hearts, or whatever.

It’s delicious!

If Halloween is your favorite time of the year, you need to add a visit to The Plaza Restaurant to your seasonal to-do list. It was such a nice experience to try the foods throughout the season and not have to worry about a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ticket.
