Uh, hey Disney — everything going ok over there?

Now that we’re drawing closer to its opening and the menu for the new lounge has been teased, Disney fans have had their eye on a few particular dates for quite some time. Magic Kingdom’s first pirates-themed lounge is set to open its plundering doors to its first visitors on August 29th, and reservations were anticipated to begin today — however, we’ve already hit quite a wall when we tried to snag them earlier today!
The Beak and Barrel has quickly become one of the most anticipated lounges to open in Disney World, and everyone seems to be buzzing about it. It will be located right beside Magic Kingdom’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride, where pirates and plunderers alike will be able to sit for a spell and treat themselves to a hearty bounty of various drinks and appetizer dishes.

Reservations for the new lounge were announced to be available starting today, August 14th; however, Disney didn’t specify a specific time we would see those reservations pop up. Since we’ve been going on past experience (and we’re eager to get a look inside to taste it all for ourselves), we were up bright and early to try to snag a reservation.

Normally, Disney World advance dining reservations are made available for your visit up to 60 days in advance of your day of check-in (or 60 days in advance of the same day you intend to enjoy the dining experience for visitors not staying at a Disney World hotel during their visit) at 6 AM ET. Usually, these reservations are made available in the wee hours of the morning, making it a common practice for those anticipating new reservations (especially for popular restaurants) to seek to make those reservations early. However, when we tried to grab reservations earlier today (and even up through the morning) we’ve been met with challenges.

No, it’s not you — Disney World’s entire dining reservation system is currently undergoing maintenance. When we tried to grab a reservation right when they historically would have been made available, we were able to get through a screen that allowed us to put in a party size and click a button for a time selection; however, that has quickly changed to various temporary messages indicating the system is currently being worked on.

And it’s not just The Beak and Barrel that’s been affected now. The entire Disney World reservation system seems to be down and unable to accept new dining reservations at this time. Our best advice is to remain patient and keep checking intermittently throughout the day to try to snag your reservations once the system is up and running again.
We hope this will be worked out soon, and we’ll all be able to let out a collective cheer once we’ve snagged the reservations we’re looking for! Be sure to check back in with us for more Disney World news, updates, and more right here at AllEars.
