Salt & Straw is serving up their August flavors of the month, and this time the theme is the Farmer’s Market! The flavors include:

  • CHOCOLATE CHIP ZUCCHINI BREAD: Decadent chunks of chocolate zucchini bread stirred into gently spiced chocolate chip ice cream
  • TOMATO GELATO WITH OLIVE BRITTLE: Crushed tomatoes, Arbequina olive oil, and lemon zest come together in a vibrant gelato, studded with bits of black olive brittle for a salted-candy crunch
  • MELON AND PROSCIUTTO: Fresh cantaloupe and candied prosciutto ice creams swirled together, inspired by the classic Italian pairing
  • PEACH JAM MISO BLONDIES: Hunks of miso butterscotch blondies folded into toasted coconut cream, ribboned with peach basil jam for a bright, herbal finish
  • PICKLED CUCUMBER SORBET: Grillo’s pickle brine, fresh puréed cucumber, and a fragrant bouquet of dill blend into a refreshing summertime sorbet
August Flavors of the Month

The Chocolate Chip Zucchini Bread was so tasty! You can taste the chocolate chip and the ice cream, and it reminds us of a chocolate chip ice cream flavor. But the zucchini bread, along with it, doesn’t taste necessarily like zucchini bread.  It tastes more like a pumpkin bread, so it’s got those warm spices to it. We loved this one, and it was probably the most “normal” of the bunch.

The Tomato Gelato with Olive Oil Brittle was amazing — even though it tastes like liquid ketchup. You get that kind of saltier tomato taste mixed in with some olive oil and a little bit of lemon zest. Because it’s gelato, it’s a little bit thinner in consistency, so it’s creamier, but then it’s got the pieces of the olive brittle in it, which are very nice — sweet and salty.  It almost tastes like a honey brittle, and combined with the tomato flavor, creates a really unique experience.

SO unique

The Melon and Prosciutto was another hit. It’s distinctly cantaloupe flavored, and it’s got the prosciutto ice cream swirled together with the classic Italian pairing. It tasted like we were having brunch while eating ice cream. The prosciutto taste was on the nose, and we really loved the combination of the two flavors together.

The Peach Jam Miso Blondies flavor is kind of the fan favorite right now, from what Cast Members told us. It’s very reminiscent of a cobbler, almost, so if you like a peach cobbler, if you like jam, you’re going to love this one. We enjoyed the nutty, buttery flavor of the miso blondies, which added a nice saltiness to the ice cream.

Definitely not your average ice cream

And, last but certainly not least, we’ve got the Pickled Cucumber Sorbet. Now this one is definitely a sorbet consistency, so expect a more icy vibe than the creamy flavors we previously had. It’s got Grillo’s pickle pickle brine, fresh pureed cucumbers, and a fragrant bouquet of dill — and it really tastes like frozen pickle juice. It is briny. It tastes like you just pulled a pickle out of your sandwich and crunched into it. It was oddly refreshing, so if you like pickles, you should pick this one up!

We’ll be on the lookout for even more eats and treats to review for you around Disney World and beyond. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news and beyond!
