Picture this — you are finally at Disney World on vacation. All of the planning and packing is finally done, and you are having a magical time when you suddenly notice that you have lost something!

Losing something at Disney World can feel like a nightmare, especially something as important as your phone. But believe it or not, there’s often a little Disney magic behind how items make their way back to their rightful owners.
One of our team members lost her phone on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and the situation seemed bleak at first. The phone had actually fallen onto the ride tracks themselves. All she could do was keep checking its location. Amazingly, by the end of the day, the phone showed up at Guest Services. Someone had found it and walked it over after the ride shut down for the night. She was able to reclaim it just before it would have been sent off to Central Lost and Found. A full day of anxiety turned into a relief-filled ending thanks to a helpful Cast Member and some good luck.

Another one of our writers had a simpler but equally satisfying experience: her hat flew off during a ride. She reported the loss using the form in the My Disney Experience app, and to her surprise, the hat arrived at her home just days after her trip ended. It’s a small thing, but it shows how organized Disney’s lost and found system is.

And then there was the childhood memory of our editor who left her little purse tucked in the netting on the DINOSAUR ride. Realizing it was missing just 30 minutes later, her family returned and spoke to a Cast Member at the attraction. Impressively, they used the ride photo to identify which vehicle she had been in, checked the exact seat, and found the purse still sitting where she had left it. A near-miss turned into a magical recovery, all thanks to the sharp-eyed Cast Members.

If you ever lose something at Disney World, your first step should depend on where it was last seen. If it happened on a ride, speak directly with a Cast Member at the attraction — they may be able to check your ride vehicle or even use your ride photo to assist. If you’re not sure where you lost the item, head to Guest Relations. For items that don’t turn up right away, you can fill out the Lost and Found form in the My Disney Experience app or online.

Losing something on vacation is never fun, but when it happens at Disney World, there’s a good chance the magic isn’t over yet. We hope this helps you if you ever lose something while on vacation at Disney World. Be sure to follow us at AllEars.net for more tips.
