The NEW Ride Warning We’re Issuing for EPCOT This Summer

A classic EPCOT attraction may see a major ride pattern change this summer.

EPCOT

For decades, EPOCT’s signature attraction, Spaceship Earth, has seen a similar crowd flow pattern throughout an operational day. Early in the morning, crowds entering the park’s main entrance would be drawn to the massive geodesic sphere weenie, which houses the attraction, which sits just inside the park. Lines for the Omnimover attraction would be at their longest during this period, before lessening throughout the day as guests moved deeper into the park, to the point where the attraction could essentially be a walk-on by nighttime. However, that may be changing thanks to a new lounge.

In June 2025, Disney opened the new GEO-82 Lounge at EPCOT. According to Disney, the bar & lounge is a “sophisticated hideaway nestled within the iconic geodesic sphere at EPCOT that’s home to Spaceship Earth,” where guests can “experience global flavors blended with culinary artistry in classic cocktails and small plates.”

The establishment pays homage to the attraction through its name – a reference to Spaceship Earth’s shape and opening year – as well as “the storied history and enduring legacy of this timeless EPCOT icon” through its theming and decorative elements.

So, how might the lounge alter the ride’s wait times?

Well, GEO-82 is only for guests 21+ and requires advance reservations. Meaning that, during the day and night – especially leading up to the park’s nightly fireworks, which can be viewed from the lounge as part of a dining package – many Disney Adults will be milling around the area of the attraction, either waiting for their reservation or departing the lounge.

It would stand to reason that at least some of these fans may decide they want to ride the attraction that inspired the lounge either before or after their dining experience ends, leading to much higher crowds than was previously the norm and longer waits during periods when Spaceship Earth was previously a near walk-on wait time.

The view!

It will take some time and observation to see just how much GEO-82 changes Spaceship Earth’s wait times this summer, but it’s definitely something anyone heading to the park should keep in mind over the next several months. Stay tuned to AllEars for more coverage of Disney’s summer.
