6 Animal Kingdom Mistakes That Scream “This Is My First Trip to Disney World”

You don’t want to make these mistakes on your day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

There is so much beauty and hidden details put into this specific park at Disney World. Whether it is your first time visiting here or your 20th, you don’t want to make these mistakes at Animal Kingdom.

1. Thinking This is a Half Day Park

Guests who only plan for a half day at Animal Kingdom are really missing out on great stuff and probably don’t know what all it offers! If you take your time and fully enjoy everything there is to do here, you won’t be disappointed.

Just look at that view!

While there are some great rides here like Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest, you don’t want to miss slowing down and seeing the other things here like the fantastic shows, the animal walks, and all of the little details that Imagineers put into this park.

2. Skipping the Food Options Here

The food found at Animal Kingdom is some of the best on property. One could argue that some of the best snacks can be found here. Check out Mr. Kamal’s for some incredible Seasoned Fries or Tamu Tamu Refreshments for the Pineapple Crisp Sundae.

3. Not Going to Nomad Lounge

Alright, so I’m not going to hide it — Nomad Lounge is my FAVORITE lounge at Disney World. The vibes here are incredible, with indoor and outdoor seating, it is such a great place to take a break during your day.

Here you can find some delicious cocktails like the Hightower Rocks or Jenn’s Tattoo. You can also try some of the food, like the Bangkok Chicken Wings or the Tuna Poke Bowl. You can join the waitlist through your MyDisney app.

4. Not Taking Time for the Animals

Kilimanjaro Safaris is not the only place you can find animals at this park. You can do the Maharajah Jungle Trek in Asia to see tigers (like baby Basko), bats, and more up close.

After you exit the safaris, you can head to the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail, where you can find gorillas, birds, zebras, and more! You can also see the Cotton-Top Tamarins across from Creature Comforts or the kangaroos just left at the Tree of Life.

5. Taking Your Tree of Life Photo From the Front of the Tree

There will be so many people who take their photo in front of the Tree of Life at the front of the tree, however, you are likely to get lots of people in the background of these. Instead, head to the back of the tree for a great shot. You can also check out the Tree of Life Garden for a more up-close option for photos.

6. Not Meeting Rare Characters

Animal Kingdom is home to some great Disney characters that you won’t likely see anywhere else. You can meet Dug, Kevin, and Russell from Disney’s UP. You can also find Rafiki and Timon over at Rafiki’s Planet Watch.

Mickey and Minnie also meet together here and in adorable safari outfits! You can also find Donald, Daisy, Chip, and Dale all in unique Dino-themed costumes in DinoLand, and these might be gone soon since DinoLand is changing this year. If you want to meet some characters, Animal Kingdom is a great option!
