2025 is gearing up to be a huge year at Disneyland!

The OG Disney park is about to be full of fun celebrations, the return of popular entertainment offerings, ride layovers, and even a new attraction! Here are six life-changing announcements you need to know about this year at Disneyland.
Let’s get into it!
Soarin’ Over California is Back
First things first, the original Soarin’, Soarin’ Over California is back for Disney California Adventure’s Food and Wine Festival. The festival has already started, which means you can already go and experience the attraction and smell the iconic orange scent. The overlay is around from now until the end of the festival on April 21st.

Disneyland is Celebrating Its 70th Birthday
Disneyland opened on July 17th, 1955, and this year marks the 70th year of the park. Disney is known to take celebrations to a whole new level (and almost always, they run for over a year, giving you plenty of time to check out all the offerings!) The celebration will officially kick off on May 16th and run into the summer of 2026. There will be unique character costumes, Sleeping Beauty Castle will get an overlay, and tons of entertainment offerings are returning!

The popular Paint the Night Parade will be returning to Disneyland. This parade features characters from fan-favorite films like Cars, Monsters, Inc., Beauty and the Beast, and more!

Wonderous Journeys, the fireworks show for the 100th anniversary of the Disney Company, is also set to return to Disneyland.

Disney California Adventure will get a brand new World of Color show called World of Color Happiness! The show will feature characters and music from both Disney and Pixar films.

Plus, DCA will see the return of the Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! This parade debuted last year as part of Pixar Fest and features close to 30 Pixar pals.

Walt Disney – A Magical Life Opens
It was announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2024 that Disneyland would get the first-ever attraction to feature a Walt Disney animatronic. The show will rotate between Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln on Main Street. Although the show was set to debut with the rest of the 70th anniversary offerings, it will open on the park’s 70th birthday on July 17th.

Season of the Force is Returning
Star Wars fans will want to visit Galaxy’s Edge West as Season of the Force is set to return. There will be two shows; the first is Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga. It is a brand new nightly projection show that will “transform the spires of Batuu near the Millennium Falcon evoking memories of some of the greatest moments in galactic history as an iconic musical score, comprised of familiar themes heard throughout the films of the Skywalker saga, draws the audience into the legendary story of the Skywalkers.”

Fire of the Rising Moons show will also return and be staged on select nights. The “skies over Batuu light up in bursts of color, imaginations are ignited with the iconic music associated with tales from across the galaxy.”

A “shadowy visitor” is also set to make an appearance around Batuu, and it seems that the visitor is Luke Skywalker!

In Tomorrowland, Space Mountain will transform into Hyperspace Mountain for the duration of Season of the Force.

Haunted Mansion Holiday Will Return
The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay will return to the Haunted Mansion on August 22nd and will stick around until January 7th, 2025. This overlay will be part of both the Halloween and Christmas seasons at Disneyland.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark Will Return
Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout will have its Halloween layover return this year. While no exact date has been announced, the Halloween season typically starts in late August. Monsters After Dark tends to switch over around 4 PM.

There are so many new and returning offerings coming to Disneyland this year, and we will be covering it all, so make sure to continue to follow along with AllEars!
