Hey Disneyland! We NEED You To Make This Space Mountain Update PERMANENT

It’s no secret that in so many ways, Disneyland does some things better than Disney World.

We often argue that the food in Disneyland is generally better than in Disney World (if you need proof of that, try the churros in each). However, some rides are superior, too, like “it’s a small world” and Pirates of the Caribbean. Then there’s Space Mountain, which is SO much better in Disneyland, even in its original form. But sometimes, it gets a cool Star Wars overlay that makes it even better, and we think Disneyland should just make the overlay permanent.

This overlay is called Hyperspace Mountain, and it changes Space Mountain up to give it a Star Wars theme. The idea is that your hurtling through hyperspace while dodging fights with other starships. It all starts with a briefing from Admiral Ackbar who asks for your help in surveying an Imperial Star Destroyer.

Of course, as expected, it’s a TRAP! You arrive and discover that the Star Destroyer is waiting for you with a swarm of TIE fighters and you’re find yourself in the midst of cannon fire. Your ship’s maneuvers take you through space to avoid being hit while you go for that one final assault on the Star Destroyer.

If that sounds epic, it is. But there’s one big problem: Hyperspace Mountain is only available during one part of the year. You’re only able to ride it during Disneyland’s Season of the Force, which usually runs in the spring around May 4th. During that time, you’re in for loads of Star Wars surprises in Disneyland, as well as having the opportunity to take a spin on Hyperspace Mountain. However, when Season of the Force ends, so does this version of the ride.

So here us out: Hyperspace Mountain should become permanent. Although Disneyland has the better version of Space Mountain, Hyperspace Mountain makes it next level. Considering the amount of Star Wars fans who are already visiting Disneyland to check out Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, it just makes sense that Hyperspace Mountain would be a big hit.

So, Disneyland, if you’re paying attention, when Season of the Force ends in May 2025, just let Hyperspace Mountain stick around.

  1. Sorry, but absolutely not. The IP takeovers of the parks is already too much. It’s fun for a special offering but the original can’t go.
