An Extinct Attraction Is Returning to the Disneyland for a LIMITED TIME!

Soarin’ Over California 2022

One of the most popular rides in the history of the Disneyland Resort — Soarin’ Over California — is about to make its annual return! From February 28th through April 21st, the classic version of the attraction is returning to California Adventure in conjunction with the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival.

For those who’ve never ridden the original version of the attraction, it’s a journey that “begins as the foggy clouds of San Francisco part to reveal the sprawling expanses of the Golden Gate Bridge.” Throughout the ride, you will visit scenic locations, including Yosemite National Park, Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe, Palm Springs, San Diego, Malibu, Los Angeles, and Disneyland Park.

Soarin’ Over California originally opened as California Adventure’s opening-day E-Ticket attraction in February 2001. The ride was one of the few bright spots of the initial DCA lineup and quickly became a fan favorite. It was cloned to Disney World’s EPCOT in 2005.

In 2016, both U.S. versions of Soarin’ were refurbished to show the “All Over the World” ride film that had first debuted that year at Shanghai Disneyland. While that is still the main version of the attraction, the original film returns to California Adventure for a limited time in the summer of 2019 before becoming an annual part of the Food & Wine Festival’s offerings following the pandemic.

According to Disney, the version of the ride film that will be shown “has never looked better” and will once again feature the iconic score from Academy Award-winning composer the late Jerry Goldsmith. “Inspired by the optimistic spirit of California, the magnificent score is one of the master musician’s final works and the culmination of a 5-decade career.”
