The Disney World calendar is always changing — you just never know when something might pop up!

A while back, we noticed that Magic Kingdom would be closing much earlier than normal on one day in January, and now that day — January 30th — is almost here.
Heads up! Magic Kingdom is closing early — like, REALLY early — on January 30th, 2025. You’ll only have until 4:30 PM to enjoy time in the Most Magical Place on Earth. But don’t worry, the three other Disney World parks will remain open until their typical closing times!

Magic Kingdom typically closes at 10 PM this time of year, so the 4:30 PM closure is a whopping five and a half hours earlier than normal. While Disney hasn’t made any official announcements about this closure, it’s likely due to a Cast Member appreciation event.

If you were planning on visiting Disney World during this time, consider planning your Magic Kingdom day for a different date. But, if you’ll be at Magic Kingdom on January 30th, try to get there as early as possible to ensure you’re able to get as much time in the park as possible!

Our top tips for avoiding long lines without spending any extra money are to rope drop the parks (get there right when — or before — they open), get in line during meal times or parades and fireworks, or wait until people start leaving for the night!

You can also take advantage of things like Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours depending on what Disney hotel you’re staying at. These offerings allow hotel guests to get a little extra time in the parks before everyone else gets there.
And, you can always take advantage of Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass (and the new Premier Pass!) These are skip-the-line services that allow you to bypass the standby lines at popular Disney World rides. Disney recently switched over to this system instead of the previous Genie+. You can read all about the NEW Lightning Lanes here.
