While one of the busiest Disney World days of the year, Christmas Day, has come and gone, we’re still in the middle of the busiest week in the parks.

The two weeks between Christmas and New Year’s Day see some of the highest crowds of the whole year. All four parks can have higher than normal amounts of people, but typically, Magic Kingdom is the busiest, followed closely by EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and then Disney’s Animal Kingdom is generally the least crowded. This often means Magic Kingdom is the first to run out of Lightning Lane Multi Passes. However, today, December 29th, we noticed something totally STRANGE!
Park Pass Reservations are sold out at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios today, December 29th for ticket holders who need to make reservations and Hollywood Studios reservations are sold out for Annual Passholders. While not everyone needs to make Park Pass Reservations anymore, this can be a good indication of how busy these two parks are today. Yet, Lightning Lane Multi Passes are still available for these two crowded parks.

But over in Animal Kingdom, where Park Pass Reservations are still available and the park that is typically less busy during this week, Lightning Lane Multi Pass has SOLD OUT! None of the other park Multi Passes are sold out so far today, and for Animal Kingdom to be the first park to sell out it very unusual. However, we have noticed that the wait times for rides at Animal Kingdom over the past few days have been higher than the other parks, so this could be why more people are now purchasing this Multi Pass.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass allows you to use Lightning Lanes for select rides within the park you purchased. It also lets you park hop and use the Lightning Lanes included within Multi Pass at the other parks without an additional charge. Today, the prices for Multi Pass at each of the four parks was as follows:
- Magic Kingdom — $39
- EPCOT — $32
- Hollywood Studios — $35
- Animal Kingdom. — $29 SOLD OUT

Speaking of busy days at Disney World this week, we also noticed that Park Pass Reservations for Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios have all sold out for ticket holders and Annual Passholders on December 31st! It’s not unusual for these three parks to hit max capacity on New Year’s Eve since they are the three parks open until midnight with events, countdowns, and fireworks to ring in the new year.

Again, not all guests need Park Pass Reservations, only non-date-based ticket holders and Annual Passholders, but seeing the reservations sold out can be a clue of busy days.
If you specifically want to be in Magic Kingdom for New Year’s Eve, we recommend being at the park early in the morning, as it’s not unusual for the park to reach capacity early in the day. That means, if you’re planning to park hop to Magic Kingdom from another park, you’ll most likely want to do it early. However, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios are having fun events for New Year’s Eve as well, and it will be fun to celebrate in any of the parks!

The next couple of days at Disney World are bound to be busy! We suggest making your plans early, whether that’s purchasing Multi Pass or getting to the park of your choosing. We hope you have a great time at the parks and have a happy new year!
