This Secret Feature Will CHANGE How You Use the Disney World App!

Get the most out of Disney World’s app!

Magic Kingdom

Over the last decade or so, a trip to Disney World has become dependent on the My Disney Experience app. From making dining reservations to booking Lightning Lanes, to finding your way around the parks, the smartphone app has become indispensable. Recently, we tested out one of the app’s newer features.

Generally, the way we’ve looked at our plans on the app — especially since the new Lightning Lane Single Pass and Lightning Lane Multi Pass systems were implemented earlier this year — was in the list format.

The “traditional” list view

This simple chronological list of plans keeps everything organized and easy to follow. However, there is ANOTHER way to keep track of your plans inside the app that does so in a much more visual way.

You can access the View My Map Multi Pass feature, which displays your Lightning Lane and other reservation times across a map of the park (in our case, the Magic Kingdom).

The more visual map layout

This much more visual organization tool is incredibly helpful for those who aren’t intimately familiar with the layout of Disney World’s parks. It provides a tangible way to show the distance between locations in the park, which in turn can help novice guests determine if it’s feasible to, say, make a Lightning Lane and dining reservation work in a certain amount of time.

We also noticed that reservations for Lightning Lanes will stay displayed on the map for the entirety of their three-hour return window, even after the time has *technically* expired.

This view allows for a clearer view of distance and time.

If you’re a novice Disney World guest or simply someone who prefers a more visual interactive layout, definitely give the View My Map Multi Pass Feature a try next time you’re using the MDE app at Disney World. To access your custom map, go to the “My Day” section of the app, then tap “View My Map” under the name of the park you’re visiting that day.

  1. This new feature on the MDE app will be very helpful but could be improved by having the first destination time blinking or in a different color on the map and the succeeding one labeled as “next”. This would help to see the screen on your phone in the bright sunshine.
