Going to Disney World can be pretty darn expensive, and that’s no secret.

It’s part of why people are constantly on the lookout for savings and deals on things like hotel rooms and tickets. Even us dedicated Disney fans often set budgets for things like food and souvenirs during our visits to the parks. So when we find a cheap way to upgrade our trip? Well, we latch onto that like a lifeline!
If you’re heading to Magic Kingdom, there’s a $1 upgrade that we LOVE. Seriously, we can’t get enough of this 100-cent add-on, and we just need to tell you all about why we love it.
What is it? Why, it’s the substance that our friends over at Disney Food Blog have lovingly dubbed plastic cheese!

Of course, the cheese isn’t actually made from plastic. But when it’s sitting in its little cup, ready to be slathered over our food, it has a plastic-looking texture. However, the taste MORE than makes up for its looks.

This cup of goodness is deliciously cheesy and the perfect addition to your meal, especially at Casey’s Corner. That’s where you’ll find it on the menu for just $1 in Magic Kingdom. Perhaps our favorite way to eat it is with Casey’s Corner corn dog nuggets or french fries — bonus points if you find a seat with a view of Cinderella Castle while you dine.

But we’ve got to warn you — not all cheese is created equal in Magic Kingdom. You may think that you’re getting the cheesy goodness when you buy a cup of cheese sauce to go with your Mickey pretzel, but it’s not the same! The flavor and texture of the prepackaged cups of cheese are different than the kind you get at Casey’s.

Thankfully, the true plastic cheese can also be found at a few other select places around Disney World, like Backlot Express. You’ll want to look out for the spots where the cheese is pumped into an open-top cup. That’s how you know you’re getting the good stuff!

And if you want to take your cheese obsession to a new level, you could also visit Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe in Magic Kingdom. There, they offer cups of queso as an add-on to your meal for $1, or a la carte with an order of tortilla chips. Even more sauce options to behold!

So if you’re dining in Magic Kingdom and you’re willing to spend an extra dollar for some cheesy delightfulness, we know it’ll be worth it!
