It’s CRUNCH TIME for Disney World’s Newest Hotel. Will It Be Ready to Open in 5 Days?

Can you believe it? In a couple of days a brand-new hotel is opening up in Disney World?!

December 17th is the day that the new Island Tower will open at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and bring with it even more Disney Vacation Club rooms to Disney World. There are going to be some spectacular fireworks views, a new restaurant, AND  a Moana pool area! All of that sounds incredible, but we just took a look at the current state of construction, and we’re wondering will it all be ready to open in time?

As we said, the new Island Tower will open at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The tower looks incredible and we can’t wait to experience all its amenities, but we just stopped by to see how everything’s coming along, and let’s say we’re wondering if it’ll all be ready on time!

At a glance when you look at the tower, it looks glorious and everything seems to have come together immaculately. Even looking at the tower from different angles seems to show a great level of readiness.

But when you zoom in, you can see that they’re still working on getting the tower ready. For example, there is still some kind of work that must be getting done as evidenced by the construction workers in the lower right of the picture.

Here’s a closer look at it:

Then moving to the right from there (along the waterside of the tower), you can see work being down on the grounds.

Here, let’s zoom in where we were able to spot several construction workers (circled in red) and the typical Disney hedges that they employ when they need to block off an area and not have guests see the work being done (circled in yellow).

Perhaps they’re expecting to need to use those hedges because they will still be completing work when the tower opens? Let’s continue moving towards the right.

In this picture we can see more workers along that edge closest to the water and even one up on a lift.

From this angle, it isn’t quite certain if this work is general landscaping or something a bit more involved. And, of course, we can see that the barriers are still in place until the tower is fully opened.

Hopefully, whatever work they are currently doing, will be completed with plenty of time to spare and won’t delay the opening of the tower.
