Looks like there’s another milestone that’s about to happen in Disney World!

And we’re not talking about the opening of a new ride, restaurant, or even a brand-new hotel. No, we’re talking about something that’s happening in Magic Kingdom that has a bit more gravitas than that, and it’s all going down on January 15th, 2025! We promise you that it’s going to be a day where every hardcore Disney fan is going to descend on the park.

As we were saying, hardcore Disney fans are going to be flocking to Magic Kingdom on January 15th, 2025. And why is that? What is it that makes this particular date so legendary? Why it’s because it’s the 50th anniversary of the Carousel of Progress being at Magic Kingdom!

A Quick Carousel of Progress Recap

If you’re new to the fan club (welcome!), the Carousel of Progress is a rotating theater show that Walt Disney himself originally designed for the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair. It highlights technological advancements in the 20th century through the lives of one American family.

The Carousel of Progress moved to Disneyland in California after the World’s Fair, and then in 1975, it found its forever home in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Fast forward to now, and here we are about to celebrate its 50th anniversary in the heart of Florida!

Why January 15th Is THE Date

January 15, 1975, marked the first day the Carousel of Progress opened at Magic Kingdom, and it’s been a fan favorite ever since.
