Why Haven’t They Banned These Disney World Restaurant Hacks Yet?!

We know a thing or two about dining around Disney World, and with that, we have discovered four dining hacks that we can’t believe still work.

Cinderella’s Royal Table

Sometimes, you forget when your Advance Dining Reservation window opens, and you miss out on snagging a reservation for a popular restaurant. Or sometimes, you might want a light meal without the price tag of an adult portion. These four Disney World restaurant hacks have saved us time and time again, and we hope Disney never makes us stop using them.

We go to Disney World every day, which means we have almost eaten at Disney World every day! Throughout our trips to the parks, we are always looking for tips and tricks to improve not only our Disney World experience but also yours!

Refresh the My Disney Experience App

It is 58 days before your trip and you just realized that you never made your Advance Dining Reservations when they opened two days ago. You go to open the My Disney Experience app and see that the restaurant you wanted to dine at during your trip has no reservations.

Don’t fear! There is still hope! You can visit the reservations page every day multiple times throughout the day and refresh, refresh, refresh! People cancel or modify their reservations all the time, and you never know what might pop up once you refresh.

In recent years, Disney has also relaxed its dining reservation cancellation policy. Before, if your dining plans changed, you had to cancel your reservation at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee. Now, you can cancel your reservation up to two hours before your reservation without any charge.

This means that reservations are likely to pop up the day of! If you keep refreshing the app, you may be able to snag a reservation for a popular restaurant like Space 220 or ‘Ohana on the same day!

Make a Reservation on OpenTable

While you can make dining reservations on the My Disney Experience app, you can actually find certain Disney Springs restaurants on OpenTable!

Jaleo is on OpenTable!

Since many restaurants in Disney Springs are owned by a third party, they can also list their restaurants on OpenTable. If you can’t find a reservation time you would like for a restaurant like City Works or Wine Bar George, you can check OpenTable for more reservation times!

OpenTable also does not have a cancelation or no-show fee the way the My Disney Experience app does. This gives you more flexibility in case your plans change.

Modify Your Party Size

Restaurants have different table configurations and want to try to fill an entire table instead of giving a large table to a table of two.

If you are a party of two, sometimes you may not be able to find a reservation for your party size. You can always try to add one person to make it a party of three. Sometimes, more reservation options pop up.

Once you snag the reservation for the larger party size, you can modify your party size in the app, or you can talk to the Cast Member at the host stand and tell them that your party size is now smaller, and they will try their best to accommodate the request.

A word of caution if you try this hack, this mainly works when you are trying to adjust the party size by only one or two people. For example, if you were to join the walk-up list at ‘Ohana, there may not be any spots available for a party of four, but there may be a spot available for a party of eight. This is because of the table configurations at ‘Ohana. If you and your party do this, there is a high chance that you will not be seated.

Due to this, we suggest only trying to modify your party via the My Disney Experience app. As always, Cast Members will be more than happy to try and  accommodate your request to increase your party by a few people.

Order Kids’ Meals at Quick-Service Locations

Some Disney World Kids’ Meals are a seriously good deal. In most cases, at a quick-service location, a Kids’ Meal comes with an entree, two sides, and a drink.

When we just want a light bite to eat, we love to order Kids’ Meals. At quick-service locations, there is no age limit on who can order these meals. It is important to not that this does not work at table-service meals.

We prefer to use Mobile Order to make any customizations on the app, but you can also order in person as well!
