The Secret Dress Code Disney Cast Members Made Up in Disney World

Cast Members at Disney World have to follow a strict (while recently more relaxed) dress code.

Disney World Cast Members

This is all done to ensure that Cast Members are show-ready when they are on stage. The dress code includes rules like making sure a Cast Member is in the correct costume, wearing approved shoes in an approved color, and wearing the correct style and color of socks. Cast Members also follow rules about their appearance, such as approved hair color, hairstyle, facial hair, and piercings.

These rules have recently been relaxed with the newest of the five keys, the Inclusion key. This key loosened up certain rules about hairstyle, facial hair, and even tattoos. Cast Members now also have more options when it comes to picking a costume as costumes are now not sorted by gender.

While Cast Members follow these Disney mandated rules, Cast Members made up their own dress code. Which you may think, “Why would Cast Members want to follow another rule?”, but this rule is really fun!

It has been a recent trend for Cast Members to put a keychain on their work bag that represents where they work. You may see a Cast Member going in for their shift or even leaving their shift with their lunch box or work bag, and some of these bags have a Disney themed keychain on it.
