No matter where you look, something is ALWAYS going on in Disney World.
We’re talking about construction. Over at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, two restaurants are currently being built (and we’re anxiously awaiting opening dates). There’s been construction happening at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort for a while. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is also seeing a lot of construction, thanks to new Disney Vacation Club villas being added. However, that’s not the ONLY construction happening at the Polynesian.
We were recently visiting Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and noticed that construction walls had gone up around the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) center there. This is where you’ll find information about DVC and all that it offers.
With the Polynesian getting some new DVC villas, we guess Disney thought it was time for a refresh of its DVC welcome center at the resort. Disney has been putting a lot of focus on DVC recently throughout Disney World.
The new DVC building, Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, will open in December 2024, with reservations now open to everyone. The new building will feature a lobby with an art panel in the ceiling inspired by the Polynesian Islands and its native wildlife.
Disney Imagineers worked with artists from all over the world to create artwork for the new villas. The villas will include preserved moss walls, sculptures made from recycled fishing nets, and more to create spaces “inspired by the spirit of conservation and embody the rich cultures of Polynesia.”
Recently, a new DVC welcome center also opened in Disney Springs, complete with interactive features and a model of Disney’s Riviera Resort. The new space even includes a giant Mickey and huge world globe highlighting DVC properties all over the world.
