A Disney World hotel refurbishment was supposed to end last week, but it ended up getting extended.
Extensions like this one may happen occasionally if construction isn’t going as planned or some other hiccup happens. This may affect your Disney World vacation, but luckily this latest extension shouldn’t put a big damper on it. However, there are still several closures around Disney World, so let’s see what will be closed the week of August 4th through August 11th!
Disney World Hotels
World Premiere Food Court — All-Star Movies Resort
The World Premiere Food Court was supposed to officially reopen on July 31st, however that was not the case.
A Cast Member shared that construction was behind and the refurbishment has been extended. Throughout this refurbishment the restaurant hasn’t been totally closed! You can still use mobile order to choose food items off a limited menu and seating is available at the food court and at the arcade. We’ll keep you posted on its full reopening!
Everything Pop Food Court — Pop Century Resort
Everything Pop Food Court is a surprisingly great place to grab a bite of food if you’re staying at Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
However, this food court will be getting some work done on it from July 29th until September 29th. While it’s undergoing refurbishment, Disney has mentioned that you may still order food and drinks here via mobile order on the Disney World app. Alternate entrances may need to be used, though.
Barbados Leisure Pool — Caribbean Beach Resort
The Barbados leisure pool at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is one of several leisure pools around the resort.
Starting on July 29th, this pool will be closed for refurbishment until the end of September. While it is being refurbished, Disney has mentioned that guests are welcome to check out one of the other leisure pools at the hotel
While these hotel closures may impact you, let’s see what else is closed around Disney World this week!
Magic Kingdom
Peter Pan’s Flight
Peter Pan’s Flight will be closing on July 8th for an extended refurbishment.
The ride will be closed until August 21st, however Disney has not made an official announcement sharing details of what will be getting worked on. The ride is usually a very popular choice for guests, but it will be unavailable for over a month.
It’s Official. This is the BEST Quick Service Restaurant in Magic Kingdom.
Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade
The opening day attraction, the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade, officially closed on June 23rd.
This closure is to make room for a new DVC lounge that will soon be coming to Frontierland. This will be the third DVC lounge in Disney World, but we don’t have an opening date, yet.
Tomorrowland Terrace
Tomorrowland Terrace is a restaurant in Magic Kingdom that has usually only been open occasionally, generally during particularly busy seasons. However, it’s been a LONG time since we’ve seen this spot open at all.
Currently, it’s only used for Magic Kingdom fireworks dessert parties, and there’s no word on when it might serve food again.

EPCOT
Test Track
Test Track closed on June 17th and we don’t have any information about its reopening date or timeline yet. The ride is being reimagined! Besides some concept art, we don’t know much about what this update will entail.
We know that the ride will continue to be a partnership with Chevrolet and that they will be taking some inspiration from the original ride World of Motion.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid as we know it will NOT return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s closed now, and Disney has confirmed that this show has permanently closed to make way for an updated version.
“The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure”, an all-new stage show, will replace the show in the Animation Courtyard theater in Fall 2024.

Blizzard Beach
Typhoon Lagoon was closed for several months but finally opened on March 17th, 2024! Woo hoo!
However, on that same day (March 17th) Blizzard Beach closed for refurbishments. Since it just closed, we do not know when it will reopen again, but since 2020 we’ve noticed that the two water parks generally flip-flop being open.
That means that, even though it’s currently summertime and thus peak water park season, we may only have one option of water parks to go to. We’ll be watching for news of Blizzard Beach reopening, but for now, just head over to Typhoon Lagoon!
