Disney's 'High School Musical' Star Zac Efron Briefly Hospitalized After Swimming Accident

Like many of us, you’ve probably been following the career of Zac Efron since he stole our hearts as Troy Bolton in High School Musical.

Of course, Efron has had a successful acting career since then and was most recently the star of the Netflix movie, A Family Affair, with Nicole Kidman. The star, though, was recently hospitalized briefly after a swimming accident, but don’t worry, doctors said he was going to be okay.

According to People, Efron is recovering after having a minor health scare while visiting Spain. While staying in Ibiza, Efron had a “minor swimming accident” in a pool that resulted in the actor being taken to a local hospital for precautionary reasons.

Efron was released from the hospital the following morning. His rep said, “He is fine.”

Efron seems to be enjoying some downtime in Spain after a busy year in which he starred in A Family Affair for Netflix, as well as The Iron Claw. Before that, he had starring roles in Baywatch, The Greatest Showman, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, and more. He won a Daytime Emmy in 2021 for hosting the Netflix travel show Down to Earth with Zac Efron. He’s been pretty busy since his High School Musical days.

We’re happy to report that Efron is okay and that it seems like he’ll be fine after the incident.
