WILDCATS: Some OG High School Musical Stars Are Coming to a Disney+ Show!

Calling all OG “High School Musical” fans — these are the announcements you’ve been WAITING FOR!

“High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” has brought us some great moments with new characters and nostalgic moments with characters from the original films. Season 3 just wrapped up and season 4 is on its way, but now we have some HUGE updates!

According to Disney, production on season 4 of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” is officially underway in Salt Lake City and some familiar faces from the OG “High School Musical” movies will be coming BACK!

Just who will join the cast this year? Well, we’ll see the return of Corbin Bleu (who guest starred in season 3 of the series), as well as Monique Coleman (Taylor from the original High School Musical films), AND Lucas Grabeel (Ryan from the original films).

But wait…there’s MORE! Also joining the cast in season 3 is Bart Johnson (Coach Bolton from the original films)…

…Alyson Reed (Ms. Darbus from the original films)…

…AND Kaycee Stroh (Martha from High School Musical).

The cast will also feature Kylie Cantrall (Disney’s “Gabby Duran & The Unsittables”), Matthew Sato (Disney’s “Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.”), Caitlin Reilly (“Hacks”), and Vasthy Mompoint (“The Prom”) in recurring guest star roles. Kylie Cantrall will play social media star, Dani. Matthew Sato will be the “sitcom actor,” Mack. Caitlin Reilly will be an “indie film director” named Quinn. And Vasthy Mompoint will be the choreographer — Krystal.

Plus, we’ll get to see the return of some of the show’s cast members many know and love — Joshua Bassett (“Ricky”), Sofia Wylie (“Gina”), Dara Reneé (“Kourtney”), Julia Lester (“Ashlyn”), Frankie Rodriguez (“Carlos”), Kate Reinders (“Miss Jenn”) and Liamani Segura (“Emmy”).

Just what will season 4 be about? Well, after spending the summer at Camp Shallow Lake, the Wildcats are back in East High where they’ll be preparing to do a stage production of “High School Musical 3: Senior Year.”

But things don’t quite go to plan. Plans have to change when Principal Gutierrez announces that Disney will be making “High School Musical 4: The Reunion” and will be filming it ON LOCATION at the high school!

According to Disney, “Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Bart Johnson, Alyson Reed and Kaycee Stroh will play themselves,” and will “resurrect” their original roles from the “High School Musical” movies. The Wildcats at East High will play featured extras in the movie.

Season 4 will feature songs from the “High School Musical” movies and original songs too.

We know what you’re wondering — will ZAC EFRON AND VANESSA HUDGENS MAKE AN APPEARANCE?! What about Ashley Tisdale? According to Billboard, the creator of the series, Tim Federle, said, “We’d love to get Zac and Vanessa and all of them back, so we’re actively working on that right now.” We will be eagerly awaiting updates!
