NEW Characters Are Joining Disney's High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

Disney+‘s popular show High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will debut its third season soon.

The next season is set to air on July 27th, and the show has already been approved for a 4th season! Season 3 brings the characters to Camp Shallow Lake, where they’ll meet some new friends. Want to learn more about these new characters before the season starts? We’ve got a sneak peek and some special details right here!

D23 (the Official Disney Fan Club) has released some details about the NEW characters you’ll get to see in Season 3 of this popular series.

First up, former Hannah Montana star Jason Earles will be joining the cast as Dewey Wood, Camp Shallow Lake’s strict camp director who is known for being a bit of a “killjoy.”

Corbin Bleu, the Disney star known for playing Chad Danforth in the High School Musical movie series, comes to the show as himself! He surprises the campers and serves as a role model for them. We already knew about Corbin Bleu joining the cast, but we couldn’t help but include his character in this list!

Bleu explained that working with Earls creates a bit of an Inception moment when explaining the show. Bleu is playing himself while Earls is playing a fictional character, but in reality “Earles has been coaching the series cast since season one.”

ZOMBIES star Meg Donnelly will also come to the show as a new character — Val. Val is a camp counselor in training who attended the camp in the past and is ready to be the choreographer for the camp’s production of Frozen. Val is also long-time friends with E.J. These two have actually known each other since they were little and they grew up going to Camp Shallow Lake together during the summers!

Camp Shallow Lake’s mystery kid is Jet played by Adrian Lyles. Jet keeps himself out of the spotlight, meaning no one really knows much about him. He’s exasperated by the camp antics at the beginning but loosens up as the season goes on.

Saylor Bell joins the cast as Maddox, the returning “techie” who feels comfortable and “in control” at the camp. But when the Wildcats show up, it may just throw a wrench in what she expected this summer to be.

Tony-winning actor Tyler Ferguson joins the cast as Marvin, a family friend of Nini’s. This is another celebrity guest appearance we had heard about before. In terms of the Season 3 story, Nini has explained that she feels like “something big” is on its way. Could Marvin be the one to help Nini find her next step? We’ll have to wait to find out!

Superstar JoJo Siwa joins the cast this season as Madison, a Camp Shallow Lake Alumni. We knew about JoJo Siwa’s appearance in the show, but now we have a look at one of her character outfits. Details about her character are still scarce, so we’ll just have to watch the show to find out how she’s involved with the Wildcats!

Last but not least, Better Nate Than Ever star Aria Brooks plays Alex, an eighth grader auditioning for the camp musical for the first time. She is joined by her best friend Emmy, played by Liamani Segura, who is also really looking forward to auditioning for the musical. And this season we’ll also get to meet Channing, played by Ben Stillwell, who is the cameraman for the behind-the-scenes camp docuseries.

Along with these new members of the group, we’ll also get to see favorites like “Ricky Bowen (Joshua Bassett), Gina Porter (Sofia Wylie), E.J. Caswell (Matt Cornett), and Kourtney Green (Dara Reneé)…with Nini Salazar-Roberts (Olivia Rodrigo) returning as a recurring character, and Big Red (Larry Saperstein), and Seb Matthew-Smith (Joe Serafini) appearing as guest stars.”
