4 Disney World Hotel Restaurants I’ll Never Eat at Again

Not all Disney World restaurants are created equally. Throw the hotels into the mix and that becomes even more truthful!

Grand Floridian

Disney fans are pretty passionate when it comes to their opinions on dining, which made us wonder if there were any hotel restaurants people would NEVER eat at again. So, of course, we turned to the experts — YOU!

We headed over to our Facebook page to ask our readers which Disney World hotel restaurants they’ll NEVER eat at again, and here’s what they said!

‘Ohana

This popular, Polynesian-themed restaurant features an “all-you-care-to-eat” meal brought to your table. Expect dishes including grilled meats, Hawaiian specialty sides, and the signature ‘Ohana Bread Pudding for dessert.

But, it sounds like readers aren’t having the best experiences at this spot lately. One reader shared, “For over 20 years [‘Ohana] was a go-to dinner but the quality and service has steadily declined. Last visit was just my 18-year-old [sic] son and I and it was the last straw. The food was inedible, the wings were raw to the point of [being] bloody.”

‘Ohana Breakfast

Another reader said the restaurant hasn’t been the same since reopening after the pandemic-related closure. They said, “We experienced the food not being the same quality, as it was years ago. We were told that their vendors had changed, and boy was it noticeable! So, we haven’t been back since then. We truly miss the quality of the way it used to be!”

Chef Mickey’s

Chef Mickey’s is a classic character meal you can find at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This restaurant is located in the main atrium of the resort, which means it can get LOUD in here. You can typically meet Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald during your meal. But, overall — the food isn’t that great.

Chef Mickey’s breakfast

We’ve sort of always felt that Chef Mickey’s was somewhere you went for the characters but not the food. And, it seems our readers agree. When we asked our question, one reader said, “It was a one-and-done [sic] for us. The food is not good.” You might still enjoy this buffet meal, though, since there are typically plenty of options to choose from.

Grand Floridian Cafe

As you might have guessed, Grand Floridian Cafe is at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. It’s an upscale cafe with a fairly extensive menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Fan favorites include the Buttermilk-fried Chicken, which is served as a dinner entree with sides and as Chicken and Waffles during breakfast and lunch.

Despite how delicious this sounds, many of our readers didn’t love the meals they had here. There are still plenty of reasons you might want to book a reservation here, though, like its proximity to Magic Kingdom and the relative ease with which you can snag a reservation.

California Grill

At Disney’s Contemporary hotel, California Grill has long been a fan-favorite signature dining spot. Right now, this table service restaurant is serving a 3-course selection menu featuring “contemporary, market-inspired cuisine.” But, it seems to have waned a bit as far as being a favorite is concerned.

Wagyu Strip Loin at California Grill

One reader replied that they had previously loved California Grill, but on a recent visit they felt the “Service was bad for an expensive restaurant and food was only mediocre.” The meal costs $89 per adult (ages 10 and up) and $39 per child (ages 3-9), plus tax and gratuity, so it’s certainly not cheap.

Short Rib Wontons

Others remarked much of the same. They felt the quality of both service and food had declined over the years based on their experience. Perhaps this once-loved restaurant is in need of a revamp!

Valrhona Chocolate Torte

So, where SHOULD you eat at the Disney World hotels? We’re glad you asked! Some of our favorites are Steakhouse 71, Sanaa, Boma, Toledo, Citrico’s, and Yachtsman Steakhouse. You can see more favorite Disney World hotel restaurants here.

Emma and the famous bread service

  1. Yachtsman!

It’s the worst service and steakhouse on property by far. Save your money and go to Shula’s a short boat ride away.

  2. The ruined Artist Point and now Cali Grill. I love Jiko but it’s not an easy restaurant to get to if you aren’t staying in AKL. Citricos is the best somewhat hidden gem on property
