You HAVE to See the NEW Area That Just Debuted at EPCOT

A NEW area at EPCOT caught us by surprise.

Construction

EPCOT has been under construction for so long that it almost seems weirder to see areas of the park without construction walls than with them. As the final major EPCOT construction project – – CommuniCore Hall – – is wrapping up, another smaller-scale one was recently revealed as well.

In recent months, there’s been some construction near the Imagination pavilion, near the area’s bathrooms. Initially, we believed this space would be for a new playground. However, Disney had different plans.

The new area is actually a nicely landscaped spot with numerous tables and overhead string lights. There’s also turf on the ground, which our reporter on the ground described as “super squishy and bouncy, which feels great under my feet after the concrete.”

“Squishy” Turf

During the off-season, this will serve as a nice spot to relax and take a breather. However, its major use will likely come during the park’s several festival seasons, when it will act as new and expanded seating for the cadre of festival booths in that area.

The area also contains a new festival booth structure.

The New Booth

An area like this has been demanded by EPCOT guests for a long time, and they’ve finally gotten it. This newly built festival area will see its first use this summer for the 30th annual EPCOT Food & Wine Festival. This year’s installment of EPCOT’s iconic original festival will run from August 29th to November 23rd.

We love those lights!

This NEW EPOCT festival area will definitely provide some much-needed seating during the park’s festivals, as well as a nice respite spot the rest of the year. Stay tuned to AllEars for further EPCOT updates.
