Unless you’re a total Disney EXPERT, odds are we can teach you a thing or two about some of the best-kept theme park secrets. We’re not here to cover the basics this time! Instead, we’re letting you into a special club of Disney hotel experts who know ALL the best tips. You ready?

Here’s the good news. You don’t have to stay at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to take advantage of the secrets we’re about to spill. The only thing standing between you and this hotel is a short ride on the monorail. Now, it’s time to spill our secrets!
OK, introductions first. The Kona Cafe restaurant at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort serves some of the BEST toast we’ve ever had. Yep, TOAST.

You might be wondering, “What’s the big deal about toast?” Well, this stuff is special. It’s called Tonga Toast, and it is banana-stuffed sourdough French toast rolled in cinnamon sugar, served with a strawberry compote. You can get it with your choice of ham, spiced ham, bacon, or sausage on the side for $17.

But not everyone has the time for a full sit-down breakfast in Disney World! Maybe you couldn’t get a Kona Cafe reservation, or maybe you just don’t want to spend $17 for breakfast. Well, we’ve got you covered. Tonga Toast is also served at Capt. Cook’s (the quick-service dining spot at the Polynesian Hotel), and it’s CHEAPER!

You can get the Tonga Toast from Capt. Cook’s for $10.49, just note that the strawberry compote is not served here. But hey, if the strawberry sauce is not worth $6.51 extra to you, go to Capt. Cook’s instead!

But wait — there’s more! ‘Ohana is one of the hardest dining reservations to snag at the Polynesian Resort, but we have a solution!

Tambu Lounge serves food from ‘Ohana, too! For instance, you can get those warm, savory Pot Stickers right at the lounge — no reservation required!

In the past, we’ve been able to order things from the ‘Ohana menu, even if they aren’t listed on the lounge menu. We can’t guarantee that your server will allow you to get those ‘Ohana menu items, but it’s worth asking!

So there you have it! Whether you want to save little time or money, you don’t need to visit those pricey table-service restaurants to enjoy some of the Polynesian Resort classics. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

The Tonga Toast is but a shadow of what it was prior to COVID. It was definitely made fresh then but now I think it is premade as the taste is not the same. Port Orleans French Quarter also had it to prior to COVID and it was made to order. That too was dropped as well. It’s a victim of the massive food selection pruning that it is every restaurant.
