A NEW Disney World Hotel Transportation Problem May Impact Your Next Trip

Whether you’re looking for a little classic Southern cooking from Homecomin’ or want to knock out some shopping, Disney Springs is the place to be!

Disney Springs

In fact, some Disney World hotels have special boat transportation that will take guests directly to Disney Springs! During a recent trip to Disney World, we learned about an important transportation closure that may impact your trip.

Before we dive in, below is a list of the hotels that typically offer free boat transportation to Disney Springs:

Guests staying at one of these hotels and guests that just happen to be visiting the resorts can utilize Disney’s free boat transportation to (and from) Disney Springs.

Recently, though, we learned that the Disney Springs boats may be temporarily unavailable.  According to a Cast Member at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, boat service to Disney Springs is temporarily suspended.

The Cast Member informed us that the dock area was drained, and a lack of rain and issues with the water levels have impacted the Disney Springs-area waterways.  Currently, Cast Members do not have an estimate on when the boats will be able to run again — service is dependent on a specific water level.

That said, Disney is still offering bus service to Disney Springs, and guests can also walk to Disney Springs from Disney’s Saratoga Springs hotel.

We also spoke to a Cast Member at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, who confirmed that boat transportation is suspended from the resort as well.

Note that we have not confirmed that boat service is suspended from all Disney hotels that typically offer boat transportation, but we will continue to look out for updates. For now though, it seems like we might have to wait for the water level to rise before we can use the boats to get to Disney Springs.

If you were hoping to visit Disney Springs soon (and were hoping to use a boat), keep in mind that it might NOT be a possibility for now. Instead, you may need to utilize Disney buses, walk, or use your car to get there. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more!

  1. We stay at Port Orleans a lot and use the boat to go to Disney Springs. Too bad it is suspended for a while. Let’s hope they get some needed rain!! I also hope the cast members steering the boat or driving a bus become a little more jovial. I missed that the last time I was there. That was something that made the trip magical! I always loved chatting w/ the drivers and learning different things about WDW.

  2. Stayed at French Quarter Monday night. Boats were running from Port Orleans, both locations. That said, they definitely are not running m g for OKW and SSR. Water level too low for dock areas is what the boat captain said
