OVER 20 Titles Will Be REMOVED from Disney+ Soon

The Disney+ streaming service can’t seem to stay out of the headlines lately. With the recent news that Disney+ may integrate Hulu into its platform, we’re preparing for some BIG changes on the streaming front.


We also heard a little hint that Disney+ data could influence new Imagineering projects in the Disney parks. It’s like we’re living in the future! Speaking of the future, we’ve got more Disney+ news to share. Let’s dive in.

Over the past few years, Disney has invested heavily in new Disney+ content. We’ve seen shows like WandaVision and The Mandalorian explode in popularity — there’s even a Mandalorian character sighting in the parks now!

Despite the flood of new content coming to Disney+, things may be changing soon. According to a report by Bloomberg, Disney will be removing some programming from the Disney+ lineup.

So far, we know that Disney decided not to renew a few shows, like National Treasure: Edge of History, Big Shot, and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.


Bloomberg also reported that Disney has an internal list of programs that could be cut soon, and those shows could be pulled in the near future. These cuts could be used to help the company save money, as Disney currently pays residual fees for some of its content.

Disney Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger reportedly wants to “reduce spending on shows and films by as much as $3 billion” in an effort to “curate” the content available on Disney+, per Bloomberg.

The expected cuts come as part of Disney’s recent mission to increase revenue across the board. During a recent earnings call, Chief Financial Officer Christine McCarthy confirmed that the ad-free tier of Disney+ would get a price increase soon.

Additionally, Disney’s Direct-to-Consumer business reported a loss for the previous quarter. If Disney continues down this path, we could expect to see more cuts coming soon.


Disney CFO Christine McCarthy also stated that “Disney will write off as much as $1.8 billion of programming in 2023,” according to Bloomberg. As we learn more, we will be sure to update you!
