An Upcoming Marvel Film Has Been Impacted By The WGA Writer’s Strike

Recently, we’ve been seeing Hollywood place several movies and television series on hold as the WGA strike continues.

The WGA is the Writer’s Guild of America, the union that represents professional screenwriters in the United States. The strike has caused all writing in Hollywood and across the nation to come to a halt, affecting many films and TV shows. The repercussions could be similar to the potential pilot’s strike that threatened flights earlier this year. So far, the strike has impacted many TV shows and films, including the Marvel franchise.

The Hollywood Reporter has stated that Marvel’s Blade movie has been put on hold due to the strike, marking the second time that the film has been paused.

The movie was set to start filming next month in Atlanta. So why was it paused if it was so close to production? The Hollywood Reporter says that Marvel “has a more acute reputation for script pages flying off the typewriters during filming. And the strike will mark uncharted territory for the studio, which is used to having a writer on set to rework things on the fly.” With writers on strike, they are prohibited from writing on any script in any capacity — even if it’s just a line or two!

Marvel is set to have three films and two series filming simultaneously in the coming months. As of now, Marvel’s Thunderbolts is still on track to start filming in Atlanta in June, but that could change.
