Disney World is full of great table service restaurants all around the parks for you to try on your vacation.

If you want to make sure you get a table at one of these restaurants, you’ll want to make an Advanced Dining Reservation ahead of time, but sometimes they are hard to come by. Luckily, many Disney restaurants have a walk-up waitlist option so you can try to snag a last-minute seat at one of these locations. Beware, however, that a walk-up waitlist experience might be a little different than one where you’ve booked a reservation.
If you’ve never been to Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater in Hollywood Studios, it’s a fun table-service restaurant designed to resemble an old-time drive-in where get to watch clips from 1950s-era science fiction “B” movies. The main appeal here is the atmosphere — you have a chance to either sit in vintage car booths or picnic tables, and the night sky is twinkling above you at any time of day! But unfortunately, you can’t guarantee you’ll get your table/booth of choice.

We were in Hollywood Studios recently, checking out Sci-Fi Dine-In Diner on the My Disney Experience app when we got a notification about the walk-up waitlist option for this location.

According to Disney, if you don’t have a reservation, you will likely be seated at a picnic table. While this is preferred for some (the lighting is much better in those seats anyway), the booth cars are a huge draw for many wanting to dine here.
Keep in mind, though, that these booths are actually not guaranteed even if you have a reservation. According to a planDisney response from 2022, you can try to secure your spot at your table style of choice by showing up to your reservation 15-20 minutes early to request one or telling the host that you’re willing to wait a little longer for it. But again, these are just requests and not guaranteed, so plan accordingly.
We’ll keep an eye out for new Disney updates, so stay tuned for all the latest news.

We had a Great Time at Sci Fi Dine Restaurant in the beginning of Feb ..We actually went to Host alittle earlier then our Reservations because my cousins daughter was not feeling the best .. The male Host accommodated us which we really appreciated & we waited alittle while & then got seated. We had a Great Dinner & It was my first time there & we got to sit in the cars ..It was so cool. Also our waitress was so great & really friendly talking with us & serving out food ..We actually told her that we wanted to talk to the manager to to them that our waitress was Awesome ..& it’s nice to give compliments when it’s due ..I think there are probably more complaints given in a day then compliments but we really felt the need to Compliments her
I love the theme and had a great seat here last May but the food is dreadful. Luke warm burger and fries at best – shame really as the overall theme is great but I personally wouldnt go back again.
It is a really cool place to eat . Especially the first or second time . But , like a lot of Disney “ stuff “ it gets stale and they are slow to adjust . They could do some upgrades to the movies . Even show some 1/2 hour sitcoms ( they have a huge library to chose from ) . And , as in most of DW they need to do a better job with food quality. Our family has enjoyed many trips to DW over the years . We were fortunate to see the openings of Hollywood Studios and Animal K . Went to all the newer hotels . Beach , Boardwalk , etc ……I guess it’s a combination of getting too big and losing the control they had and the general attitudes of a large part of the work force . It’s a shame it’s never getting back to that MAGIC they once had . I still say it is a great family place to go . Maybe the new guy can bring back some of the old magic ?
