Disney just made a BIG change to its streaming service.

Disney+ launched in 2019, and it’s now home to many of your favorite classic Disney films as well as original new content like The Mandalorian and The Santa Clauses. Whether you’re already a subscriber or just thinking about it, Disney just changed the monthly price, and here’s what you need to know.
Disney+ now offers two different price plans, which are called Basic and Premium. The Basic plan includes ads for $7.99 per month, while the Premium plan has no ads and a few other perks for $10.99. Note that the Premium plan is basically what subscribers were receiving prior to this change, and it originally cost $7.99 per month, with no ad-supported tier available.
You can also purchase the Premium plan for $109.99 for the year.

If you want to bundle Disney+ with Hulu and/or ESPN+, you can also choose from three other plans, including Duo Basic, Trio Basic, and Trio Premium. We break it down for you below:
- Duo Basic: Subscription to Hulu and Disney+. Includes ads.
- Trio Basic: Subscription to Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+. Includes ads.
- Trio Premium: Subscription to Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+. No ads.
There is also an option to get Hulu + Live TV, Disney+, and ESPN+ (all with ads) for $69.99 per month.

If you opt for the Basic plan, which includes ads, you can watch Disney+ on up to 4 screens at once at no extra cost, but only the Premium plan gets a few additional perks. With the Premium plan, in addition to the 4-screen option, you also get unlimited downloads on up to 10 devices, GroupWatch, and Dolby Atmos.

Michael Paull, President of Direct to Consumer, said, “Today’s launch marks a milestone moment for Disney+ and puts consumer choice at the forefront. With these new ad-supported offerings, we’re able to deliver greater flexibility for consumers to enjoy the full breadth and depth of incredible storytelling from The Walt Disney Company.”

Rita Ferro, President of Disney Advertising, said, “We are committed to connecting our clients to the best storytelling in the world while delivering innovation and viewer-first experiences in streaming now and in the future.”

If you decide to opt into the Disney+ Basic plan with ads, Disney has said that you will experience approximately 4 minutes of commercials per hour. If you want to continue paying $7.99 a month, you’ll need to subscribe to the Basic plan or increase your streaming budget to $10.99 per month for the Premium plan.
