NEWS: Park Hopping Could Cost You MORE in Disney World

It’s not easy keeping up with all the changes that happen around the Disney parks — but that’s why we’re here.

We recently shared hundreds of price increases in Disney World on just about everything from dining to Disney Genie+ to special experiences, and now it looks like even more updates are coming to Disney World.

Disney recently shared that beginning on December 8th, pricing for certain ticket add-ons will vary by date. Essentially, this means that depending on when you decide to visit the parks — select add-ons will be subject to surge pricing.

A Disney spokesperson shared that this change will apply to the Park Hopper ticket add-on, so depending on when you’re visiting a Park Hopper ticket may cost you more if it’s a popular day or a weekend.

  1. I used to enjoy Park Hopper so I could challenge myself to completely walk through all four parks in a single day. Or so I could ride a ride like Soarin early every day and then meet my family in another park (again a challenge to see how many times I could ride Soarin during a visit), but since you can’t use the park hopper feature until later in the day, it is simply not worth the extra money.

    1. Annual passes are going up a lot too. But with Universal’s annual pass after 4PM your AP gives you front of the line status as does staying at a deluxe resort. We are thinking bout moving to Florida and saw this when “shopping” AP rates at both WDW and Universal.

    1. Hi David. Yes, you already have tickets that have been paid for. This should go into effect for any new tickets purchased.

  2. There’s a flip side to applying surge pricing for the park hopper add-on….or for that matter, charging a fee to park hop. In the past, we took advantage of this program and planned our whole day and night activities at (2) parks and spent $$$ …now we target one park..and spend $$$ with the remaining amount of time outside Disney property…spending $$$
