PHOTOS: Disney Releases New Pride Collection and Announces 100% Donation of Profits

As the end of May quickly approaches (bringing with it some exciting stuff like the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind), we look ahead toward the summer months.

June is Pride Month, a month dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ community, and Disney has started the celebration early with some new Pride merchandise available now both in the parks and online.

For the past few years, Disney has released a new Pride Month collection full of rainbow merchandise, but this year’s collection is special for a specific reason. This year, from now until June 30th, 100% of the profits earned from this collection will be donated to LGBTQIA+ organizations like GLSEN, The Trevor Project, and the Los Angeles LGBT Center, among others.

This includes the profits on all Pride merchandise from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. You can learn more about the specific organizations Disney is donating to by visiting their website on the pride collection.

Today in EPCOT, we spotted some of the new collection (and many of these items are online too!), like this Marvel Pride shirt.

On the front, this has a rainbow Marvel logo, and the back of the shirt says “Power, Heroic, Courage, Strong, Protect, Bold” with each word a different color of the rainbow. The letter “O” for each word has a different design, as well.

There’s even a Marvel Pride shirt for kids! This shirt is white, and has the same circle designs on it as the adult version we mentioned above.

In the circles you can see designs for characters like Spider-Man and Black Panther. This shirt is $19.99.

There’s also a Loungefly Backpack in this new Pride Collection. It’s a black backpack with Mickey ears and a rainbow heart as the front pocket.

The Loungefly logo also has a rainbow frame around it, and you’ll see on the bottom right corner the word “Pride” with the letter “D” as a rainbow. Like most other Loungefly backpacks, this bag is $75.

If a backpack isn’t your style, then you can grab the Pride Collection Mickey Mouse Loungefly Wristlet.

This wristlet is similar to the backpack except the pocket is not heart-shaped. It is $40.

There’s also a Pride Collection Stainless Steel Tumbler available now. We actually spotted this near the end of April as well.

It also has the word “PRIDE” in rainbow letters and a Mickey dotting the “I.” It is $24.99.

Disney has shared that these are just the first few items in the collection and that more will become available in the near future.

This collection and the donation announcement follows the situation Disney encountered with Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Bill (what critics called the “Don’t Say Gay” bill). As the bill was being signed into law, Disney issued a statement in opposition to the bill and indicated that the Company’s goal would be for the bill to get struck down or repealed. This response was later criticized by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and some republican legislators.

Again, Disney has released Pride Collections in the past (starting back in 2018) and has supported LGBTQIA+ organizations around the world.

On the Disney Pride Collection website, Disney notes “At The Walt Disney Company, we have the opportunity and the responsibility to create authentic, unforgettable stories, experiences and products that capture the imagination of generations of people around the world. We are committed to doing that in a way that counts everybody in.”
