Disney World is gearing up for a busy Memorial Day Weekend!
Park Pass Reservations are completely booked for the three-day weekend already and, it seems that the crowds coming to the parks may reflect the increase in travelers that the greater Orlando area is seeing.
According to Click Orlando, air travel is up 550% in Florida this weekend compared to Memorial Day travel last year when the theme parks were closed. In fact, airport officials are predicting that travel will be up to almost 88% of what they were in 2019 and will actually exceed the demand from 2019 on Sunday.
Plus, the increase is also reflected in hotel bookings, as Visit Orlando is reporting that hotel occupancy is roughly 25% below what they recorded in 2019.
The increase in travel demand has been on the rise since the CDC announced that fully vaccinated people could resume leisure travel back in April. And, Disney is even seeing this recovery in demand, as Disney CEO, Bob Chapek recently shared that the “intent to visit at Walt Disney World is growing [and is] already flat with 2019.”
We will continue to keep an eye out for updates that may impact your next Disney World vacation, so stay tuned for the latest!
