Disney+ has a new feature for that! The streaming service has debuted a new feature called GroupWatch that will let you binge-watch your favorite movies with your friends and family right now!

According to CNN, the demand for group streaming increased greatly due to the global health crisis. Users were using Zoom and other conference systems in an attempt to enjoy Disney+ content. Disney saw this as an opportunity to give the people what they want and attract more users in the process. 

Disney stated that the new GroupWatch feature will allow groups to “watch together in a synced playback experience available across web, mobile, connected TV devices and Smart TVs, and share reactions in real-time.” Yes, you can now pop some popcorn and binge Lizzie McGuire with your pals across the country.

And, it’s installed directly into the Disney+ platform! Disney claims it’s user-friendly so there’s no need to install a Chrome extension or jump through hoops to access it. Subscribers select a title and press the GroupWatch icon. The host will send an invite to up to six Disney+ subscribers, which will play the content simultaneously on all devices.

The feature is interactive and allows viewers to socialize a bit. Users can react by using emojis and pausing/starting the media. Disney also stated they are considering adding a chat feature to allow for more interaction between viewers. Fire up your laptop! The Disney+ GroupWatch party starts now!
