Replacing a Cinderella Castle Sky

One of the advantages of an early morning advanced dining reservation in the Magic Kingdom is there are only a few people around. Allowed me to get this photo with a nearly empty park. Another thing you get in Florida is a cloudless blue sky.

Cinderella Castle Original Sky
Early morning photo of the Partners statue in front of Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida. Nikon D750/24-120VR, 1/125s, f/16, ISO 280, EV +0.3, 24mm Focal Length.

In the past, if I wanted to change the sky, I would have needed to use Adobe Photoshop and layer in a mask. Not now. Instead, I pulled the photo into Skylum’s Luminar 4 Photo Editor and used its AI Sky Replacement filter to select a more colorful sky to replace the original one.

The software did all the detail work for me except for one. Here is a hint to what it was.

Cinderella Castle White Balance Adjustment
Do you see the difference between the Before (on the left) and the After Images?

If you can spot the difference, leave me a Comment below. I will add the correct answer and give credit to the expert. It is a very subtle change.

  1. The buildings and concrete that are part of the statue foundation have take on more of the “sky color” Not to mention of course the wording on the software (upper left hand corner) is gone!

  2. The altered picture, looks like you brightened up the foreground (including castle) more detail is visible in the building materials.
