There are so many attractions at Walt Disney World, so it’s no surprise that many guests aren’t sure where to start their Disney days.
These are our favorite Walt Disney World attractions to kick-start a trip!
I’m sure many of you are planning to head straight to Pandora when you arrive in Animal Kingdom. While Flight of Passage is a truly fantastic attraction, it’s even better to experience in the evening when the entire land “glows.”
If you’re looking for a burst of adrenaline in the morning, head on over to Asia, and hop on Expedition Everest, which just so happens to be our top-ranked roller coaster in Disney World. The queue is incredibly detailed, the track is pretty smooth, and the mountain itself is a sight to behold.
Kilimanjaro Safaris is located in the Africa section of the Park and offers a tour through Animal Kingdom’s savannas. You might spot lions, hippos, giraffes, and more during your safari! The animals tend to be most active in the morning and early evening, which is why it’s one of our favorite early-morning rides.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
The attractions in Disney’s Hollywood Studios are a bit difficult to choose from, simply because they are all so different. But we have to go with either Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster or The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. (If you time it right, you can ride these in a 1-2 punch first thing in the morning!)
Sunset Boulevard’s Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is great in the same way Expedition Everest is. This one REALLY gets your adrenaline going in the morning as it hits nearly 60 miles per hour. Want another great reason to enjoy this ride first? The line is rarely long in the morning.
We also love riding Tower of Terror at the beginning of our Hollywood Studios day. The theming is absolutely top-notch, and the ride is unlike anything else in Disney World.
If you’re looking for a less thrilling (but still fun!) ride to start off your day, Slinky Dog Dash or Toy Story Mania! are great choices, though they can garner fairly lengthy wait times even at Park opening.
And starting next year, you’ll get to take a spin on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Mouse fans might just need to add this to their first-ride-of-the-day list!
In the next few years, we’ll get to experience several new rides in Epcot, including Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. But for the time being, we recommend starting your Epcot day with either Soarin’ Around the World or Frozen Ever After.
Though some may prefer Soarin’ Over California to the current version of the ride, we still have a soft spot for Soarin’ Over the World. What could be better than flying over the world’s landmarks before exploring Epcot’s World Showcase?
You’ll find Frozen Ever After in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion, and it features Anna and Elsa from the popular Disney movie (naturally!). This boat ride can certainly garner some lengthy wait times, which is why we’d recommend heading over there as soon as the Park opens! When the ride’s done, hoof it over to Les Halles in the France pavilion for a tasty breakfast! 😉
The possibilities are nearly endless in Magic Kingdom, so we’re giving you three favorites! We’d recommend starting your day with either Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, The Haunted Mansion, or Pirates of the Caribbean.
Frontierland’s Big Thunder is one of our favorite roller coasters in Disney World, and it provides a nice dose of adrenaline without being too wild or crazy. If you want to pump up your ride, hop in the back of the train! If you’re quick on your feet, you can beat the crowds to the back of the Park to enjoy this ride first thing — without a wait!
We just could not choose between The Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. Both of these attractions are classic, iconic dark rides that the whole family can enjoy. Neither of these attracts super long lines early in the morning, and they truly capture the magic of the Most Magical Place on Earth.
