You’re tired, hot, thirsty and you need to take a break from all the hustle and bustle of the parks. We all know that a day in any of the Disney theme parks can be very exhausting for both children and grownups alike. Sometimes you need that 10, 15 or 20 minutes to recharge your batteries before you continue on with your day. So, where do you go to find what I call that “quiet place” in each of the four theme parks to spend some time to step aside, to get something to drink or an ice cream and to sit and relax for awhile? You’ve probably never given that much thought, but if you’re like me you probably have many of those special “quiet places”.
OK, here’s my list of my favorite “quiet places” in each of the four Disney parks. (Note: I have more than one in some of the parks.)
My “Quiet Places” Items
1) Sitting on the curb, in a shady area, on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom eating a Raspberry Sorbet from the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and doing some people watching.
2) Taking a ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. I could do this over and over again when I’m tired.
3) Getting something to drink (preferably a Samuel Adams) from the Fife and Drum Tavern (in front of the American Adventure) then finding a shady seat at a table behind the tavern or in the American Garden Theatre.
4) Going into the air conditioned The Palais du Cinema (France Pavilion) to sit and watch the 18 minute long Impressions de France film.
5) Getting a water or ice cream from one of the kiosks in Hollywood Studios and finding a table in the Backlot Express to sit and relax.
6) In the Animal Kingdom, having an ice cream from the Anandapur Ice Cream Truck and finding a nearby shady area to sit and eat it. There are usually places nearby that make for great people watching while you cool off.
I have more and could go on, but these (the above) are my favorites.
OK, I’ve told you mine, now it’s your turn to let me know what your “quiet places” are. I understand that lots of folks head over to the their hotel to relax. I’m not looking for any “non-theme park” places. Just those places inside the four theme parks.
You could win an AllEars® baseball cap. I will take all the names of those who post a comment (see below) with your list within the next couple weeks, and I will put them in a hat and randomly draw the name of the lucky winner. The only rules are that you must reside in the US, be 18 years old or older and you must provide your email address so I can contact you should you win.
All comments must be posted no later than Sunday, September 12, 2010 in order to be eligible to win the baseball cap. The winner of the AllEars® baseball cap will be announced shortly thereafter.

In the coming weeks I will blog on more “favorite” things to do in Walt Disney World. Also, let me know if you have any suggestions as to other things you would like to see “top lists” of. I’m open to any and all suggestions. So far readers have suggested I blog on Magical Moments and Favorite Disney Tours. Great ideas! What do you think? Based on the number of comments, I think you all agree that these are fun to do.
And the winner is: the winner of the AllEars® baseball cap for commenting on my “Favorite Walt Disney World 3-D Movie” blog is: Jill Davoll from Connecticut. Congratulations to Jill and “thank you” to everyone who took the time to share their “Favorite Walt Disney World 3-D Movie” with me and all the loyal AllEars® readers!
I also want to comment on last week’s blog. What a fantastic response to that blog! There were over one hundred and twenty comments posted by readers. Anyway, with that kind of a response you can guess that the items people bring back were quite varied. Everything from Mickey antenna toppers, picture frames, mugs, Tshirts, Christmas ornaments, stuffed animals, beach towels, food, guide maps, napkins and magnets. I think Disney fans like to shop! 🙂
Did you know AllEars® has a huge area called Rate and Review where you can share your dining reviews with fellow readers? Check it out!
Finally, be one of the first people to hear when my newest blogs go live on AllEars.net by joining “DisneyMike’s World” Facebook group.
Well, that’s all for now. As my good friend says, “see ya real soon”…DizneyMike

5)Animal Kingdom – any where shaddy and where we can sit
I see we share several of the same favorite quiet places, but I have a couple more that I always stop by on every trip.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1) At AK, I love sitting beside the Dawa Bar – Lovely view of the water and a great place to people watch!
2) In Asia at AK behind the Flights of Wonder is a group of tables that never seems to be busy.
3) On the left side of the Great Movie Ride are some umbrella covered tables were enjoying a Sam Adams makes it an awesome place to rest and chill.
4) At DHS, my favorite spot is back along Streets of America watching Sweat, Mulch and Shears.
5) At Future World – the Dancing Fountain has a lot of free sitting places and on a hot day – the mist really rejuvenates me.
Your comments: I love the “favorite things” articles – really gets me thinking what I truly enjoy at WDW Keep them coming.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)Universe of Energy (Epcot)
2)Behind Pecos Bill’s (MK)
3)British Invasion stage area (Epcot)
4)Streets of America (DHS)
5)The Tiki Room…well, before Iago moved in.
Your comments:
All of my favorites have been listed numerous times above…..except one. Upstairs at the Columbia Harbour House in MK is a great place to get out of the heat and enjoy lunch.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)A nice stroll along the Boardwalk/Beach Club at night, where you can see and hear the Illuminations fireworks. I know, not in a park, but my favorite!
2)The Tomorrowland Terrace – it’s nice to take a look at the castle and Main Street and the passersby.
3)The “cooling station” by Test Track
4)Lunch at Yak & Yeti – second floor, with a view of the park
5)The gift shop at the Tower of Terror, I love walking around and looking at all the interesting merchandise!
My “Quiet Places” Items
1) In Magic Kingdom, Tomorrowland Transit
Authority.
2) Also in Magic Kingdom, Carousel of Progress.
3) Epcot, go in the American Adventure.
4) Also in Epcot, Ellen’s Energy Adventure.
5) Hollywood Studios, go for the Backlot Tour.
Quiet places are not quiet. For me they are just places that I can rest my legs but still enjoy the parks. All of my choices are attractions that will cool you off and give your legs a break. A time to relax.
Our “Quiet Places” Items
1)The all-time number one for us: The Tomorrowland Transit Authority. We usually hit that first to plan out the rest of the day.
2)The ever-so-frequently closed Noodle Station in Tomorrow Land. Good if you just want to rest your feet for a bit.
3)The Living with the Land ride at EPCOT. Rarely a line and a nice, relaxing (and educational!) boat ride.
4)Chillin’ at the Canada pavillion, waiting for Off Kilter to come out. OK, when Jamie kicks in with the bagpipes, it hardly qualifies as ‘quiet’, but you can always tell the diehard Off Kilter fans (like us!)who have been waiting since the previous show ended. We’ve met some really nice people.
5)The labyrinth behind the England pavillion at EPCOT. It’s a little secret that you can walk into it (from the right hand side is best, as The British Invasion comes in from the left and you don’t want to trip the lads!)and sit down in the maze, giving you a little hidden garden to listen to some good music from.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)The “Japanese garden” area to the left of Yakotori House, EPCOT
2)The wishing well area on the right side of Cinderella Castle, MK
3)The gardens behind United Kingdom, EPCOT
4)The perimeter (benches and fountain edges) of the fountains in France, EPCOT
5)The area by the exit of Big Thunder (benches or smooth boulders on which to sit and relax), MK
Your comments:
All of the EPCOT locations have someplace VERY nearby to obtain a “libation” or other soothing commodity, whereas the MK locations both have ice cream vendors within easy reach 🙂
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)Train around MK
2)Any transportation boat rides
3)Area just down from Aloha Isle in Adventureland – covered and empty depending on time of day
4)TTA-PeopleMover of course!
5)At the exit of Tower of Terror, just behind the coffee stand
Your comments:My husband does not like to stop for long periods, so I rarely get to enjoy “quiet moments” like I want to. I love the show attractions like Hall of Presidents, American Adventure and Ellen’s Energy Adventure for the calm feeling and air conditioning, but depending on how tired I am they may be a nap inducer (Ellen’s especially, I love this ride but inevitably fall asleep while waiting to go to the dinosaur part). My husband laughs at me because I can easily catch a quick snooze just sitting down anywhere in the park–and I frequently do!
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)MK – the people mover
2)EPCOT – in the back of Morocco
3)AK – the back room of Pizzafari
4)HS – watching Beauty and the Beast
5)Resort – the laundry room
Your comments:
Yes I know it sounds strange but we are usually in Disney for 2 weeks and I will do laundry. I sit there with my feet propped up and read a book while my husband has the kids at the pool or arcade. That is my selfish alone time that doesn’t make me feel selfish because I am doing laundry.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1) Most any of the baby stations in the parks. My little guy is now two, but they’ve been invaluable to us in the past.
2) DHS – the little book / coffee shop on Commissary Lane next to the Sci-Fi Drive in. Great place for hot chocolate on a cold day, and a couple comfy chairs inside the shop with movies playing to appease the kiddo.
3) MK – TTA is great for the breeze and lack of a song that gets stuck in your head (unlike a nearby neighbor, that I love but can’t ride more than once a trip)
4) Epcot – the imagination pavilion fountains. We haven’t been back since Cpt Eo has been back, but it was rarely crowded and the kiddo can stay occupied for hours with the leaping water if we’d let him.
5) DAK – The Discovery Island trails – Mostly shady, rarely crowded, and a nice close up on some of the carved creatures in the tree and its roots.
Your comments:
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)Sunshine Tree Terrace-Adventurland
2)Snacks in the Fantasmic Arena waiting for show to start
3)
Your comments:
Gotta be honest we dont take many breaks in our day other then when we eat. One tradition my family always had (going back to when I was a kid) was getting ice cream at the Sunshine Terrace in the MK. To this day if my parents are with us we always grab a snack there.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1) Tomorrowland Transit Authority
2) Train Ride to the Conservation Station
3) Japan Pavillion at Epcot
4) The beach at Polynesian at 9 a.m. (on days we don’t feel like rushing to the parks)
5) Monorail
Your comments:
We usually go to Walt Disney World in low season, so we haven’t had to fight horrific crowds. Nonetheless, it’s nice to have some hideaways to recharge the batteries.
I love all of these suggestions — I’m thinking of cutting and pasting them into a “cheat sheet” I can carry with me on our next visit!
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)TTA in MK
2)Train ride in MK
3)American Adventure in Epcot
4)Exit at Tower of Terror in HS
5)Shaded dining area near Aloha Isle
Your comments:
On our last trip, we decided to “take a break” by just riding the train around the Magic Kingdom…we stayed on for about 3 circuits around the park, which killed about an hour. It got us off our feet, out of the sun and was a nice break. Since I have a serious aversion to heights, and my wife doesn’t, I will usually wait at the end of Tower of Terror in the Studios, right outside the gift shop while she rides. It’s quiet, shaded and there are a number of benches in the area. It is also a great people watching area as you see everyone emptying out of T of T. There is a similar area near the exit of Rockin’ Roller Coaster that I am also quite familiar with :-).
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)alley between Mama Melrose & Muppet Vision 3D
2)benches by Spaceship Earth
3)bridge between Frontierland and AdventureLand (near Christmas shop)
4)Pangani Forest Trail
5)Flame Tree BBQ
Your comments:
Animal Kingdom has a few more of these “quiet” spots than the other parks, I believe.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1) Inside the Brown Derby in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. If you go before there is a crowd to eat you can sit in the great chairs and relax.
2) Writer’s Stop again in Hollywood Studios.
3)The People Mover in Tomorrowland is a great place to get off your feet.
4)Carosel of Progress, you can watch a classic show and relax and cool off.
5)In Morocco just inside the cafe you can drink the great mint tea and watch the world go by.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)We used to always start our trip by having breakfast on our first morning at the Fountain Vue restaurant in Epcot, eating pastries and drinking cappuchinos while watching and listening to the synchronized foutain show. We were often the only guests there at that time, which may have led to the demise of breakfast at this lovely, quiet spot…Now, they offer only ice cream.
2)Lunch at the Yakitori House can be surprisingly quiet, even on busy Epcot days. Maybe the surrounding Japanese Garden subconsciously makes everyone converse a bit more quietly and just feel more tranquil?
3) The listening stations at Rafiki’s Planet Watch is a real favorite–dark; great sound effects; and usually you get the booth all to yourself!
4) Our Studios Quiet Spot: Definitely the movie portion of “One Man’s Dream”. I could watch that short film everytime we’re in the park…
5) While not exactly “quiet,” I love the courtyard formed by the entrance and exit from “Splash Mountain.” The birdhouses hanging from the huge tree in the center, especially when they’re lit at night, are very peaceful, even when there are mobs of people entering and exiting the ride.
Your comments:
By going in January or early February each year, when crowds are light (or non-existant some years) we often feel like the entire “World” is our quiet spot (well, with the exception of MK–is it EVER quiet there?).
My “Quiet Places” Items
1) MK – The TTA People Mover in Magic Kingdom & the dock down by the water between the Castle & Tomorrowland – good people watching & good view of the rose garden
2) Epcot – the Rose gardens on the path between FW & WS not shady but so beautiful. The area behind the UK pavilion & of course riding Spaceship Earth – cool, quiet and DARK.
3) AK visiting with the bachelor pack of Gorillas is always good for a laugh and any of the shady benches along the path between Africa and Asia.
4) DHS The Great Movie Ride & a bench over near Starring Rolls and The Brown Derby – great people watching because you can see the area in front of Sorcerer Mickey’s hat,
5) At the Swan and Dolphin the area on the other side of the Grotto pool on a lounge chair with a tasty cool beverage.
Your comments: AK is my “quiet” Park. It is the one place that the crowds and rush can be avoided pretty easily. You can grab a cold beverage and sit on a shady bench and just watch the animals, who have no idea what stress is.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
2)Bench on street leading to Tower of Terror
3)Near Dole Pineapple Whip Stands
4)Benches near Liberty Tavern
5)Anywhere at Wilderness Lodge
Your comments:
You’re right, Mike, there are tons of places where you can catch a little relaxation and just people watch. You just need to slow down and not run from attraction to attraction to find them.
Hi Mike –
I’m one of those “evil” smokers, but have found that sometimes the folks at Disney have given us some nice quiet places to sit and relax while we puff away. Of course these are in addition to some of my other favorite quiet areas so I’ll list them below:
My “Quiet Places” Items
1) The “Smoker Area” opposite the Plaza Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom – It gives a great view of the Castle and the entrance to Tomorrowland – its out of the main stream of traffic and is a nice place to sit and take the MK in.
2) The “Smoker Area” in Frontierland – its off the beaten path across from Big Thunder Mountain – its quiet, shady, has benches along the Rivers of America and even a rocking chair!
3) The TTA PeopleMover is always a great place to chill out.
4) At the Studios, there is a nice, quiet “Smoker Area” that’s nice and relaxing – its along Echo Lake down the steps on the Promenade in front of Peevey’s Polar Pipeline – you’ve got benches to let you sit and watch the lake, see Dinosaur Gertie and the occasional “makes you think what’s going on” when you see a duck look like its standing on top of the water and then look close and see the shadow of the underwater rock the duck’s stsnding on.
5)Any of the nice, cool, dark shows I try to stay awake in and manage to catch a few zzzzz’s – unitentionally of course (Impresions D’France and “blasphemy,” sometimes the American Adventure and the Hall of Presidents).
Your comments:
Well those are my theme park chill places – I’m sure if I put my mind to it I could come up with lots more all around WDW.
– Jeff
Our quiet places:
1) MK: TTA
2) Epcot: Back part of UK area
3) Epcot: France movie
4) Epcot: Universe of Energy
5) AK: Tables behind Flame Tree BBQ
Comments: We have small children. When one of the adults is riding Space Mountain, the other one rides TTA with the kids; we try to “see Daddy” when we pass through the Space Mountain part. My children love the hedge maze in the UK area. My husband and I can relax on a bench in the shade of the store building and watch them. When we time it right, my children will fall asleep in the France movie and we can then carry them to the strollers and have some more quiet time. My husband sleeps during Universe of Energy while my children are facinated by the dinosaurs.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)Epcot- walking outside around Innoventions with a frozen mocha cappuchino listening to the background music.
2)MK- eating a pineapple dole whip and walking around Adventureland in and out of the unused corridors and shops.
3)AK- The train to Rafiki’s Animal Watch.
4)DHS- Beauty and the Beast…very relaxing sitting in the back and enjoying the performance.
5)all time favorite….sitting at the balcony of Pinocchio’s Village Haus over looking Fantasyland!

My “Quiet Places” items:
1. In AK, the back seating along the water at Flame Tree BBQ is so wonderful and peaceful.
2. In MK, the outdoor seating in the back of Cosmic Ray’s has a waterfall, as well as a perfect view of the castle — we never want to leave!
3. The TTA in MK, of course. Great way to put up your feet and enjoy a crowdless few moments.
4. The hammocks at the Poly beach are glorious!!
5. The gardens in the UK are another great spot to sit and enjoy a treat or just people watch for a while.
My Quiet Places
1)Epcot-The maze garden in the UK a nice place to drink a cold beer.
2)Hollywood Studios-Echo Lake has some benches on one side that are nice to sit at and have a ice cream from Gertie’s
3)Magic Kingdom-TTA is the best place to relax and feel the wind blow through your hair.
4)Animal Kingdom-There’s a walkway that is next to where the Nemo show is that has some pinic tables it’s usually not crowded but it’s a nice place to sit.
I almost forgot about carousel of progress this is great for sitting back and cool and slightly dark. Rest your eyes it alittle it like 20 mins long.

My “Quiet Places” Items
1)In Epcot if you go into the backside of the pavillion with the Character greets and the ice cream store the AC in this hallway is the best. Also sitting in the living seas on the windowsill watching the dolphins.
2) Magic Kingdom has a couple but I love the TTA for a relaxing ride.
3) DHS go for the Great Movie Ride or One Man’s Dream or even American Idol exp.
4)Animal Kingdom doesnt have alot of places to get out of the heat except the shows so they are good and the Cali river rapids would be nice if it wasnt so short of a ride. There are some great seats by the water right across from the bird show to sit and look at the tree of life.
5)Never, ever, sit on the boats of its a small world to cool off and relax unless you want to sing that song all day long!

My “Quiet Places” Items
1)MK – the outside tables @ Pecos Bill early in the morning. Pecos Bill isn’t open, but you can get coffee & a muffin at a nearby cart, sit in the shade, & watch everyone heading toward Splash & Thunder.
2)EPCOT – the back of the Morocco pavillion. It’s beautifully themed & almost always quiet. Also, the benches near the old Odyssey restaurant overlook the water & the flowers, and usually aren’t that busy.
3)Studios – this one is hard! I guess I’d have to cheat a bit & pick a place just outside the park. The walkway to Yacht & Beach/Boardwalk/Swan & Dolphin is peaceful, especially at night.
4)DAK – Across from Tusker House there is a fast food stand that does breakfast in the AM. Around the corner from the fast food stand is a little courtyard with tables & chairs.
Your comments: In Jan 2010 I went on a solo trip to WDW. At DAK, I had gone straight to Everest then wandered over to Africa for breakfast. I discovered the courtyard & sat down with my coffee & breakfast. A custodian came out of a hidden door, and I started wondering if I shouldn’t be there, so I asked him if I should leave. He asked why, and I said b/c no one else is around, I didn’t know if it was ok to be there. He smiled & said, “it’s empty because we reserved it for you. Enjoy!” He really made me laugh and I loved a few quiet minutes on my own, sipping my coffee & listening the background music & noises of the park.

My “Quiet Places” Items
1)MK- The farthest back room of Pecos Bill; Cinderella’s Wishing Well
2)Epcot- The back of the Canada pavillion by the waterfalls; the courtyard in the Japan pavillion by the Yakitori House (but during Illuminations, the fireworks REALLY resonate here!!)
3)HS- I don’t think we have a quite place here… this doesn’t really qualify, but we love to watch Muppets 3-D and it’s at least cool and comfy if not quiet. 🙂
4)AK- any little shaded nook anywhere! The paths in the Oasis, around the Tree of Life.
5) The boat from POR to DTD. This might be my very favorite of all quiet places. 🙂
I’m so disappointed I thought the TTA was just my personal quiet place!
Oh well, My family also enjoys the Carousel of Progress, the gardens at the UK Pavillion and the bridge by the water fall in the Canadian Pavillion.

4) In the Stuidos near the big blue hat when the park is emptying. Wandering along Sunset Boulevard when it’s dark and listening to the background music.

My “Quiet Places” Items

3)MK – Aunt Polly’s with an ice cream sitting under the shade and people watching.
4)HS – Great Movie Ride
5)Beach at the Polynesian Resort during fireworks time with a Pina Colada in hand.
Your comments:
1) As you’re heading in to the Magic Kingdom towards Africa, there is a little path that shoots off to the right and down on to a small terrace that has a gorgeous view of the Tree of Life and there is hardly ever anybody here to disturb a nice ten minute ice-cream stop.
2) The Tree of Life Gardens at Animal Kingdom is often overlooked and makes for a nice respite from the business of the rest of the park.
3) Taking a nice stroll around the koi ponds in Epcot’s Japan pavillion.
4) I fear this could be a thing of the past, but always enjoyed visiting Exposition Hall and sitting in the nice cool cinema at the back, watching old Mickey shorts.
5) Another vote for One Man’s Dream – one of my favourite attractions in Hollywood Studios.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)Epcot – bench just up from the McDonald’s kiosk.Though you have to watch out for the ducks and geese stealing french fries!
2)MK – On curb under shade tree in Toon Town away from all the crowds until the characters re-appear.
3)AK – Restrauntasaurus – not quiet but nice cool place to eat and rest
4)HS – table outside of Pizza Planet
5)Riding the monorail from Epcot to MK
Your comments:
My “Quiet Places” Items
1) In Frontierland, down by the water, where you can see Splash Mountain and Tom Sawyer Island, while eating a giant cookie from the General Store
2) On the benches by China, closest to the water, preferably drinking a Frozen Coke
3) On a bench by Dino Gertie, kind of out of the way, but where you can still see Hollywood Blvd.
4) TTA at Magic Kingdom, it is one of my favorite rides anyway…the relaxing aspect is just a bonus
5) In the UK pavilion, back where The British Invasion play
Your comments:
A lot of my favorite places to sit and relax at Disney World are not “quiet” spots. I enjoy sitting and watching people walk by. I enjoy some of the quiet spots, too. But in general, it is much more fun to be able to watch the action!
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)TTA – Magic Kingdom
2)Seats near Fountain View eating ice cream and watching the fountain – EPCOT
3)Seats in the farthest back room at Pizzafari – Animal Kingdom
4)Bench near “Singin’In The Rain” umbrella – Studios
5)Cozy corner sofa in the lobby of the Grand Floridian
Your comments:
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)The TTA in the MK for sure!
2)The seating area near the Dawa Bar at Animal Kingdom is a great place to relax, although its noisy if Tusker House is running behind!
3)The exhibit hall in the China Pavilion and the circle vision movie!
4)Both the Hall of Presidents and the American Adventure
5)The boat from DTD to any of the resort hotels!
Your comments:
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)Magic Kingdom- Peco Bill’s eatery… not the quietest place in the world, but its a good place to get off your feet and enjoy the scenery
2)Polynesian beach
3)Epcot-Japan pavillion
4)Epcot-San Angelo Inn restaurant
5)
Your comments:while there is no real “quiet” place at the World, sometimes it is just nice to find a common place to sit, eat and people watch for a while. After sometime it becomes a tradition and can really begin to mean something to your trip. Every family should find their “quiet” spot!
1 AK – Along the River, near the Anandapur Tea Company, next to the building with the Coca-Cola logo on it, there is seating that overlooks a beautiful red boat. There are small tables here as well. It’s a great place to sit, relax with a coffee, tea or juice with a bagel or danish (I usually stop here after our early morning Everest and Safari rides before continuing through the rest of the park)
2 Epcot – FW in Future World, if I just need some quiet, I’ll head over to the Land Pavillion and take a ride on Living with the Land. It’s soothing and relaxing.
3 Epcot – WS in World Showcase, I enjoy sitting back in the garden in the UK near the bandstand where the British Invasion plays. On the other side of the lagoon, you can slip into the Stave Church for some AC and quiet (and the Kringla Og bakery is a great place for a quick sweet snack to relax with as well).
4 Hollywood Studios For quiet, nothing beats a walkthrough of “Walt Disney – One Man’s Journey”
5 Magic Kingdom I love to find a quiet bench beneath the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse and enjoy a Dole Whip OR I take a few laps around Tomorrowland on the TTA.
6 the Resort (Boardwalk) – Sometimes, it’s nice to just sit in the comfy chairs in the lobby, but I also very much enjoy the hospitality at the Belleview lounge…
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)The old boat dock between Africa and Asia in AK. I know most people thought the old cruise around the tree of life was too long of a wait for little pay-off, but I enjoyed it quite a bit way back when. So, now, just sitting at the tables they put in is pretty good R+R.
2)Playing checkers by the boat launch on Tom Sawyer Island. Great family bonding time!
3)Peoplemover/TTA – on less crowded days, we’ll ride it a couple times in a row. Also a required picture spot. We can trace our daughter’s growth from TTA pictures.
4)MuppetVision 3D preshow. I don’t always need to go into the show – I can just sit and watch the pre-show all day!
5)Catwalk Bar. I know it is long gone, but I have tons of fond memories of sipping an adult beverage, sitting in a large chair, playing a board game, and being entertained by the masses at the character meal downstairs.
Your comments:
While technically not a quiet place at all, the bar at Rose and Crown has a home feeling to it. Earlier in the day during less crowded times, we love to stand at the bar and chat with the CMs.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)The rose garden in MK close to Cinderella castle
2)The TTA in MK
3)In AK close to the ride Dinosaur there is a small food stand that all the times we’ve been to there have been hardly any people. Great place to get away and sit with an ice cream cone. Can’t remember the name.
4)The Coke Refreshment Station in Epcot. If you hit it at the right time there is no one there and you get free beverage samples.
5)The Miss Piggy fountain outside of Muppet Vision 3D in Hollywood Studios.
Your comments: We also love taking a ride around the World Showcase lagoon on the Friendship boats. You get to sit and have a cool breeze! I also love the Backlot Express. We can’t wait to have children who can play on the Honey I Shrunk the Kids set as we sit back and watch!
My Quiet Places
1) TTA – Magic Kingdom
2) The Boat Ride to Downtown Disney
3) The Train Ride – Magic Kingdom
4) The Great Movie Ride – not quite, but keeps the kids occupied
5) There is a path between Flights of Wonder and Africa; its has table and chairs and it is covered, a great place to eat and relax – Animal Kingdom
6) In Epcot – The movie in France
In general, any spot that is near water and is shaded, just turn your back to the crowds and let your imagination wonder.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1)TTA Magic Kingdom
2)Cosmic Rays – Not quiet but very enjoyable. I could go to MK and do nothing else but listen to Sonny Eclipse and have a very fulfilling day. 🙂
3)Sunshine Season – refillable sodas and beautiful decor. Just moments away from Soarin’.
4)Great Movie ride. Very cool and relaxing at DHS
5)The Oasis. Not a great place to sit, but the jungle atmosphere and being surrounded by shade and beautiful animals allows the outside world (and other guests) to fade away.
My “Quiet Places” Items
1) Magic Kingdom – find a shady spot somewhere on Tom Sawyer Island. The Peoplemover is a favourite to sit quietly and rest. We also like the path from Toontown to Tomorrowland because it is often quiet and relaxing. One thing we notice is that some of the prettiest quiet places (such as the area in Liberty Square behind the Christmas shop) are often smoking areas – I guess that is because they are off the beaten path.
2) Hollywood Studios – sitting at a table near the water in front of 50’s Prime Time or relaxing with a tea in the Writer’s Stop (browsing the books).
3) Epcot – sitting on the park bench in England watching my children and nephews negotiate the maze – they are all too tall now and will never get lost! The area in the Canadian pavillion that represents the Rockies and the area with Quebec City style buildings is also a favourite.
4) Animal Kingdom – there are many shady benches between Africa and Asia but we don’t often sit there – we’re mainly looking for DeVine. The character greeting areas in Camp Minnie and Mickey are often peaceful and quiet when the Lion King is in full swing (we always visit during Value Season). We also like to watch the monkeys antics after getting tea at the Royal Anandapur Tea Company.
5) When my youngest daughter was a baby we used to find all the Baby Centers were a quiet place to rest with her.
Your comments:
It is tougher and tougher to find a quiet spot but I find it is more your ability to tune out the noise and just appreciate the sights around you while you are relaxing than the fact that it is quiet or without other people.

DizneyMike replies: Wendy, I have to agree with you about smoking areas being some of the best places to relax. I wish Disney would move the smoking areas elsewhere (or even better make WDW a “non-smoking” destination.)…Mike
My “Quiet Places” Items
1) Flame Tree BBQ (tables by the lake) in AK
2) Backlot Express (get a refillable fountain soda and relax in the shade/inside for awhile) in HS
3) Hall of Presidents in the MK
4) A ride on the monorail and maybe a stop at a resort for a drink or snack
5) A walk along the boardwalk and a stop at one of the lagoon side tables for a drink, snack, or people-watching
Who says there’s no relaxing in Walt Disney World?!
My “Quiet Places” Items
1) Magic Kingdom — The train station “balcony”
2) Epcot — Canada, back by the waterfall
3) Animal Kingdom — one of the “secret” trails around the base of the Tree
4) Hollywood Studios — ????
5) Our resort, POFQ — a bench along the river
Your comments:
I’m a country girl and have to find ways to get away from the noise and the crowds. I know the train station at MK may not seem quiet, but when you sit outside and look over Main St., it really is peaceful.
