Review of Boatwright's Dining Hall Dinner

I ate at Boatwright's in April of 2010. We were staying at Port Orleans Riverside and in the middle of our trip we had such a brutally hot day (mid 90s) that we decided to leave the park and skip our reservation at Crystal Palace. We stopped at Boatwright's and explained the situation, and they were able to fit us (a group of 10) in after a wait of only 20-30 minutes. I ordered the Prime Rib, and I have to say it was the best steak I ate during our 10 day trip- and I had steak 5 times. The steak was cooked perfectly and just melted in my mouth.. just delicious. I also enjoyed the mashed potatoes. For dessert I had the crème brulee- admittedly the first time I have ever had crème brulee, and it was extremely tasty. Others from our group got the Prime Rib, the Boatwright's Jambalaya, and the Louisiana Lugger (Pork Chop) and we all enjoyed the food.
Having a large group, I was very impressed how our server handled the group. Overall, it was a great experience, and even more so considering it was a spur of the moment decision and we didn't originally have a reservation.

We stayed at CBR in 2009 - just 4 of us. Then, in 2012 we took 8 of us and stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. Now, going back in Oct 2015, we definitely want to return to CBR. Riverside was good but didn't feel exotic. CBR feels like you are in the Carribbean! The colours, the sounds, the textures, all make you feel like you are in the Carribbean.

My daugher and I ate dinner here on June 11th, a Thursday. It was just a few minute before 10 p.m. We had left AK about an hour before and we drove around looking for someplace for dinner. After getting to Panda Express just after closing (9:30) I said, "Let's go eat at POFQ and have their fried chicken!" So we did and as I mentioned we arrived just before 10 p.m., which is when they stop serving the chicken.
I was concerned that the food wouldn't be hot since they were almost closing and there weren't many mashed potatoes left in the pan-I was wrong! Everything was nice and hot. We had the 1/2 chicken-you get 1 light and 1 dark quarter. She ate the dark I ate the light. It was tasty, as always, though I don't consider it fried chicken (like at POP) it's more seasoned than fried (IMHO). Still very good and moist with a little kick to it
We picked mashed potatoes and the rice as our sides. The potatoes were really good-small hunks of potatoes and skins in them-like homemade. We opted for the gravy which was a good choice. It's the same gravy they use for the pot roast (which we have had before and it's also very good!). It is a beef gravy and has a few veggies it. So good. The rice was good and we got so much that we didn't finish all of it. You also get a piece of corn bread. Good and they have honey available in the food court.
It was plenty for my 15 y/o daughter and I to share and in fact we were going to get beignets for dessert but we were too full. We brought our refillable cups with us but we opted for hot tea instead. My daughter was happy to see a wider selecting of teas at POFQ than at our value resort. We only had Breakfast tea at ours but POFQ had Earl Grey, among other choices.
One of the other choices were green beans but I am not a fan of Disney's green beans. The also had greens. If they had corn I would have gotten that instead of the dirty rice.
The decor kind of scares me. I don't like the large faces/masks. We have stayed here many times and I would like to see the food court undergo a remodel.
All in all a good value for the price paid, tasted good, and we will return here again.
Pros:
Good food. Good value. HotCons:

This is our second time staying here. We had a standard room in building one. Room and view were great. Housekeeping superb! We ate at the food court 3 times and the food was excellent. LOVE the boat ride the Down Town Disney. Used online check in and received a text while at McCoy to tell us our room number. Staff was friendly helpful and kind. No problems with bus transportation. So sad when we had to leave.

Big thank you to Davis and Frank for an awesome tour. If you can take this tour DO IT you will not regret it. The guides are very knowledgeable, funny and so enthusiastic about their job. You get to stop and see the animals up close. The snack is more like a meal and is delicious. The actual foot tour is not strenuous.

I asked if we could eat in the rose room and we were able to, very quiet. The food and wait staff were amazing. We had the panseared chicken and the steak and strawberry cupcake for dessert. All of the food was delicious. We saw the Beast.

We were just there on June 17, 2015 for the new summer Frozen. It was worth every penny we paid for the processional and treats, seating in the 2nd-3rd row showing of the sing along and the desserts and fireworks. The food and drinks were delicious and plentiful and the fireworks were breath taking. Since it was the first day of the summer run the cast members were still working out some minor kinks, but were very open to suggestions especially on the seating for the sing along. Over all the package was very well done
