Review of Food & Wine Food Booths

The 2017 Food and Wine Festival is now a pleasant memory. I especially enjoyed France's goat cheese pudding and creme brûlée with raspberry jam, the quesito at Islands of the Caribbean, Scotland's citrus thistle cocktail, China's black pepper shrimp, Hawaii's passion fruit cheese cake, Australia's bush berry shrimp, Mexico's tequila chipotle shrimp, the Limoncello margarita in Italy and Greece's bougatsa. Hands down, the desserts were the winners this year (in my book). There were many things on my list I didn't have a chance to try, as always happens. With drinks averaging $10 and many food tastes at $6+ money seems to evaporate but that's Disney! The only disappointment was the pomegranate beer was sold out when I stopped for it on Nov.7. I really wanted to try it. Of couse the crowds were awful on the weekend and even one of the Mondays I was there. But overall, lines moved quickly and cast members were efficient and pleasant. Can't wait for Festival 2018! Hope the pomegranate beer is back!

Pros:

Lots of good items this year

Cons:

some prices high, lines very long at times

Review of Wolfgang Puck Express Marketplace

Our November 5 lunch choice was Puck's. My niece always orders the chicken alfredo so I decided to give it a try. Good choice! The sauce was light and creamy and there was plenty of chicken. Pizza is my usual meal here. We've been eating here for years and always have a good experience. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. Great Marketplace meal stop.

Pros:

always a good meal

Review of Amorette's Patisserie - Town Center

Stopped here for a late afternoon break on November 5. My niece grabbed a table outside under a nice shady umbrella and I went in for our dessert. She had not eaten here before so I told her I'll surprise her with something she'll like. I got the salted caramel eclair, I chose the Mickey chocolate ganache cake for her and got cappuccinos for us. My eclair was delicious and not overly sweet. My niece absolutely loved her Mickey cake with his chocolate candy ears and tail. She commented on how light it was (as I remembered it to be from an earlier trip). Some folks may think Amorette's is expensive but the quality and uniqueness of the pastry make it a "must" stop.

Pros:

always good

Review of Homecomin': Florida Kitchen and Shine Bar

I wanted to try something new and this restaurant was it. Very disappointed with my margarita. It was so sour-I could barely drink it. I probably should have sent it back but... I let the ice melt down and I actually added some sugar to it to make it drinkable. Didn't help much. Anyway, the chicken club sandwich was very good as were the homemade chips. I saw the fried chicken served and it looked great but I wanted to try the chocolate pecan pie for dessert so I went with the sandwich. The pie was terrific! Next time I eat here, I will order the fried chicken-but not the margarita!

Pros:

good food

Cons:

terrible margarita

November 8 was the last full day of my WDW visit and I had my favorite meal-carciofi (artichoke) pizza and Italian red sangria. The flavor of the pizza is so unique combining four cheeses and truffle oil with the artichokes. Delicious!
I cannot wait until I can visit again and have my favorite meal. $22 for an individual pizza? Worth every cent!!!

Pros:

My favorite Epcot meal!

My niece and I had dinner here on November 6.
She had Tortuga stew and was very pleased with her choice:lots of seafood. I had the day's special, BBQ ribs, and enjoyed them a lot:meaty and good sauce. Drinks were good, food was good, service was good. It's a nice get away from the hustle and bustle of the parks.

Pros:

always a pleasant meal

Review of Port Orleans Riverside Resort (Moderate Resort)

On my recent November visit I stayed at Riverside in Magnolia Bend in Acadian House. I found the layout confusing, especially coming from the North Depot bus stop. I had a corner room on the second floor and it was lovely. It's been awhile since I stayed at Riverside and though my visit was short, it was a nice stay. I like the location of the Port Orleans resorts, especially in regard to Epcot where I spend the most time.

Pros:

nice room

Cons:

very confusing building layout

For my Oct 30 visit, I was so pleased to have all my room requests filled-early arrival, upper floor and building 9-newly refurbished. The room was delightful! In May I stayed in building 1 so I had a recent experience with the old decor. The new room is smartly designed utilizing the space very well. It felt huge to me. I loved the Mickeys over the bed! I didn't pull down the murphy bed to see the Plutos over the bed but I'll bet they are cute too. Really a comfortable, clean room.

Pros:

Nice new room!

First visit was November 1 and I really enjoyed it. The lounge is beautifully decorated. Many customers sat inside, many outside. The bar menu had a number of tempting items and I chose the vegetarian pad thai (it had a kick) and a margarita. Perfect lunch and my new favorite stop at Animal Kingdom. Food items very reasonably priced.

Pros:

Loved it!
