Magic Kingdom is going through some serious changes right now. Both Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin are getting huge ride updates. A Villains land is being constructed behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Magic Kingdom is also getting a huge Cars expansion, Piston Peak, in Frontierland, and construction is currently underway. Now, a part of that area, Keel Boat Landing, could be changing soon.
Disney filed a new permit on January 13th for general construction in an area of Magic Kingdom known as Keel Boat Landing, which sits in front of Haunted Mansion in Liberty Square. Keel Boat Landing used to be the entrance for the Mike Fink Keel Boats, an opening day Davy Crockett-themed attraction that closed in 2001.

Of course, “general construction” could mean just about anything, but it makes sense that the area would be themed to fit in with the new Cars expansion. Piston Peak will be bringing an entirely NEW area to Frontierland, including two new attractions: a rally race ride and a family-friendly Cars-themed ride.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on all the construction progress in Disney World, so be sure to check back with AllEars again soon for more updates.
