Live-Action ‘Tangled’ Movie Takes Huge Step Forward With Potential CASTING!

In case you missed the news, Disney’s live-action remake of Tangled is in progress, and casting news is FLYING.

This, paired with the fact that we’re getting a new Tangled ride in Disneyland Paris, yeah, we’re living our best lives over here. If you’ve been wondering who may snag the coveted role of Rapunzel in the live-action remake, there’s big news — according to sources, there are FOUR actresses up for the role at this time.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, last week in London, screen tests and chemistry readings were quietly held for the role of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, and the list they’ve gotten access to (which may not be the FULL list of all who read), include Freya Skye (Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires), Sarah Catherine Hook (White Lotus), Teagan Croft (best known for the DC series Titans), and Olivia-Mai Barrett (Apple TV+ show Invasion). Sources also say that Lola Tung, best known for The Summer I Turned Pretty, may have also been asked to read, but she was not present, potentially due to a scheduling conflict.

As for Flynn Rider, Milo Manheim (best known for leading Disney’s Zombies franchise, as well as Charlie Gillespie, Splitsville, and Netflix’s Julie and the Phantoms) has tested for the role; Gilli Jones was also in the mix. Sources are also saying that decisions could be made sooner rather than later.

Previously, Scarlett Johansson was attached to the project as Mother Gothel, but that’s now no longer the case, as she’ll be shooting The Exorcist as well as The Batman Part II next year. Michael Gracey, who directed Better Man and The Greatest Showman, is set to direct the film, which is expected to begin filming in England this coming June, if the schedule remains as planned.
