Move over peppermint — there’s a new holiday macaron in town.

Disneyland goes all out for the holidays, with festive decor lining the parks, characters debuting seasonal outfits, and a rotating lineup of holiday offerings to enjoy throughout the season. Along with the sights and sounds of the holidays, Disney has also rolled out a variety of limited-time treats and eats. While not every item from the initial festive food drop won us over, a new addition just might change that. Disneyland’s latest holiday dessert had us rethinking our first impressions of a similar seasonal treat, and after giving it a try, we’re ready to talk about it.
Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe has a strong track record when it comes to macarons, and its latest holiday offering proves that streak is still very much alive. The Milk and Cookies Tree-shaped Macaron, priced at $8.29, is a festive dessert that leans hard into cozy, classic flavors — and for the most part, it absolutely delivers.

From the first bite, this macaron feels comforting and familiar. The milk buttercream filling is light, airy, and smooth, with a gentle vanilla-forward flavor that gives it that “glass of milk” vibe without being overly sweet. It balances nicely with the macaron shells, which are crisp on the outside and soft inside, exactly what you want from a well-executed macaron. The overall texture is delicate and pleasant, making it easy to enjoy even after a full park meal.

The standout element (and the one that will leave you wanting more) is the cookie dough! Flavor-wise, it’s spot on. The dough tastes rich, soft, and unapologetically doughy, like it was scooped straight from the container. The only drawback is the quantity. Rather than being spread throughout the macaron, the cookie dough appears as a small ball in the center of each macaron layer, which feels a little too restrained for a treat that’s literally themed around cookies and milk. The flavor is there, and it’s delicious, but there’s just not quite enough of it to fully satisfy cookie dough lovers (it’s us, the cookie dough lovers.)

That said, the overall execution is still strong. The flavors work beautifully together, and the macaron feels festive without relying on overpowering holiday spices. It’s indulgent, nostalgic, and very easy to enjoy, which earned it a solid 4 out of 5 in our ranking.

Compared to the White Mocha-Peppermint Tree-shaped Macaron released earlier in the season, the Milk and Cookies version comes out ahead for us by a mile. While the peppermint macaron leaned more into bold, seasonal flavors that may not have been for everyone (think toothpastey peppermint flavor), the Milk and Cookies macaron feels more universally appealing. It’s less intense, more comforting, and easier to crave again later in the day. Both were well-made, but the softer, classic flavor profile of Milk and Cookies ultimately makes it the winner.

If you’re stopping by Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe this holiday season and want a dessert that feels festive without being overwhelming, this macaron is absolutely worth picking up — just be prepared to wish for a little extra cookie dough in every bite!
