REVIEW: "Like a Cake Infused With Starburst." We Tried a NEW Germany Pavilion Treat in EPCOT

Does Disney World’s newest sweet treat live up to its fruity promise?

It’s no secret that we love Disney World snacks. Across the resort, you can find offerings to please every type of palate, from savory creations to the sugariest of sweets. Recently, we tried one of Disney’s newer snack offerings at EPCOT.

We made our way to Karamell-Küche in the World Showcase’s Germany Pavilion. In case you’ve never been, you should TOTALLY visit. It’s a caramel shop with some AMAZING snacks — the caramel popcorn never disappoints. But this time, we’re not here for the caramel!

Look! Something NEW was tucked away in the dessert case. It’s the Mamba Strawberry Lemon Cake for $6.49. If you were wondering, Mamba is a candy brand! They’re known for fruit chews in all kinds of sweet flavors.

The price!

So, this was an interesting one for us. First off, the strawberry-flavored cake was a bit on the dry side and fairly dense. It’s filled with a creamy lemon frosting that’s very fluffy and airy, and very sweet.

It’s certainly colorful

Taste-wise, we found the fruit flavors are very artificial tasting, almost like eating a cake that’s been flavored with candy. In other words, it’s VERY sweet. It almost reminded us of the flavor of a Starburst candy.

There’s also an orange-flavored variant available.

Personally, we probably wouldn’t get it again; however, for those who are fans of that candy-like fruit flavor, or those who aren’t fans of caramel, it’s probably one of the best options at Karamell Küche. We still wish the cake was more moist though…
